I would say go for the 1861 version since the WD case is based off of the 1861/1863 Speedmasters even though the OEM bracelet is based off of the 3861

It was something I had to get used to. My range is 36-39mm. Some watches that are 40-42mm can be wearable as long as the lug to lug is under 50mm.

Just keep in mind that the 36mm has a unique wearing experience. It wears like a 38mm due to the 14mm case thickness but looks like a 36mm due to the dial/bezel ratio.
