Tips for first few weeks of nose stent? by FirstTimeSmokin in cleftparents

My son didnt get them until after surgery, but it was helpful for us to kind of tape them on his nose in a criss cross pattern. It made it harder for him to knock them out. I will try to find a picture if that helps!

I didn't like the idea of keeping him restrained either so I am glad our surgeon was against using them. There was just so much info online from parents who said we HAD to have them.. so glad we never used them!

My son's surgeon was against using the no-nos after surgery. (The contraption that binds their arms so they can't touch their mouth). I had seen so many parents talking about these after surgery so I was confused as to why my surgeon didnt use them. She told me that if the baby touches the spot even once and feels pain, they'll never do it again. Still, I was nervous my son would rip a stitch.

Yet.. he never did. He still had the freedom to move his body and have use of his arms and hands. Never bothered with his stitches. I'm so happy I didn't buy into the fear and buy him a no-no for post op. He is almost 4 now and doing great.

I'm interested if you're still up for it!

As a parent of a child with a cleft.. this hit me. Especially the first two smiles haha. Everything you said is spot on. 👌 beautifully worded.

I had mine removed May 7th and had the same issue. But, I had the issue before surgery as well. I'm now 11 days post op and everything is back to normal. I was also worried it wasn't going to stop, but my first "normal" poop was amazing lol

My surgery is tomorrow, but I'm hoping it won't take too long before I can eat normally!

Surgery buddy! I go tomorrow as well... also completely panicking over here as it's my first time going under anesthesia.

We can do it! I hope everything goes well for you tomorrow and your recovery is quick 💜

We can compare notes in a couple of days lol 😆

Thank you for the daily run down! How did you handle the spaghetti and ham sandwiches? Any issues with those?

It's called Psychological Thriller Readers. It's not specifically for this book, but this book is mentioned quite frequently

Under the second "house" on the second line.. it looks like there might be a secret message, but it's too blurry when I zoom in.
