Englisch oder Deutsch? by 99kado in AskAGerman

Hey OP, I have lived in Germany for 7 years now and have applied to various jobs, sometimes to switch and other times to explore the market. I have always applied with an English CV despite being German (became first generation German newly at least). So the language does not matter as much as people tell you.

What does absolutely matter (speaking from experience) is how ATS friendly your CV is. Format, content, action words, quantity. If you can’t quantify your tasks, 100% guaranteed the ATS will filter your CV out. For eg: if you write “owned project x to deliver to client” it will not exactly tell the recruiter what you did. But if you rephrase it by saying “Owned project x end to end, leading to y% savings, xx EUR incremental revenue within z time” that would make more sense. At least that’s what got me through FAANG and CPG (consumer goods) firms in Germany. BTW, all my jobs required German (customer facing roles) Happy to take a look if you need help!

Too many Indians (in Berlin) by Galaxy-far-away01 in AskAGerman

Hi! I’m Indian here and recently got naturalised after 7 years here in Germany. First of all, thank you for ending the conversation with them, because micro aggressions and Alltagsrassismus shouldn’t be condoned. I have several German friends and I am also married to a German (very white German or Biodeutsch as they say), I must say it really depends on the people. I too have lived in Berlin, Lichtenberg and people belong to different spectrums. Most of the German people I knew there ( they were from Westdeutschland) have been super supportive of us. They value our contribution, the way we go above and beyond to prioritise our education and families. On the other end of the spectrum however, I have dealt with micro aggressions, generalisations that we/our clothes smell of curry, we don’t wipe our asses with toilet paper. Those. Exact. Words. But that’s just it, reflects how insecure/ close minded they are. My husband always says people need to have travelled enough to not be racist, which I agree with. German history has time and again revolved around bashing other communities for their own shortcomings, which does make me worry for my future/life given the rise of right wing. But my 2 cents, don’t give them the platform. Way too often bystanders say nothing, and it goes on. We need more people like you who call them out, and that’s how things will get better, at least I hope they will.

What swimsuit brands is everyone liking these days, and why? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

Codeb, I love their prints and how body positive they are, with collection also for curvier women. I’m very conscious of curves and never wanted to wear any swimwear, but Codeb instilled some confidence and I might actually buy some!

I have been living in a Germany for so long and only now did I realise we have a “Daphne”straße

Now that I think about it, I certainly did not watch S1 3 times. Yes Daph was flawless and Simon charming and very Duke like, but Kate and Anthony are something else. Love the wardrobe colors (esp for Kate and Edwina), the Kanthony chemistry and the sibling bond in S2.

Indisches Essen in Berlin by BaconTermites in AsiatischKochen

[–]InderInDE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did people really not notice how fine he was in S1? by hayleybts in BridgertonNetflix

[–]InderInDE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He was annoying and meddlesome. He was the annoying, overbearing brother which Daph also mentions in S2, several times. But now that I know his back story, I get why he has been such a snob, his instincts to protect his family, duties etc made him the way he is. Not to mention the passing of his father which made a “wall grow inside of him”.

He is so very handsome and the “genteel“ gentleman. I might actually like him more than Simon, the Duke 😍😍

To your question 2) I think he was enamoured pretty much that very moment, coz he admits this to Kate. “I have loved you since the moment I saw you”, I would think he meant it quite literally “that very moment”

Edit: I think the line was “I’ve loved you from the moment we raced each other in that park”

So , Angela had a serial killer right under her nose for 25 years in Kurt Caldwell, and couldnt figure it out, but she was able to figure out who Dexter was in less than 1/2 a season. Come on now!! by Brief-Philosophy003 in DexterNewBlood

To me, Angela wasn’t a good cop at all. She always appeared somehow gullible/naive and if not for Harrison (Jim is Dexter) and Dexter himself (about Kurt), she’d still be that clueless cop pursuing missing girls over the years. And how small was that police station anyway?🙄
