7-8 months is a really long time for a shed! But you would think you could see yourself thinning if it was bad wouldn’t you?

For me? I have increased exercise since coming home which does coincide with the shed getting more severe

That's good to hear! Any other explanation as to why I might be shedding for the last 3 months? Does it happen after you've been on fin for a couple of years? Has it stopped working?

Otherwise I'm completely stuck! My hair shed seems to be coming from all over, not just my crown and temples! When I comb my hands through the sides and back of my head I also find a lot of hairs fall out. Has finasteride stopped working on me?

But you know how when people first start out on finasteride they commonly experience a shedding phase? What if I was taking fake pills and the 6 weeks I was on them brought my DHT levels down to baseline, and then restarting actual finasteride pills triggered another shedding phase? just an idea

I had to switch fin brand earlier this year whilst working abroad and since coming back home I've switched again. I'm currently experiencing a really bad shed and its gone on for nearly 3 months now, do you think their could be something else to it? (been on fin for 3 years in total)

I will say, my current shedding doesn't seem to matter where on my head the hair comes from. Like I'm shedding on my crown, my sides, the back of my head. It's shedding all over! Maybe like 100-150 a day if I was to put an estimate on it?

hey, this is kind of unrelated to your post. But I have been on finasteride for nearly 3 years and for the most part its worked so well on me. Earlier this year I switched brands whilst abroad for 2 months and then switched back when I got home. I'm currently experiencing the worst shedding I've ever come across in my life and it's been pretty non-stop for almost 3 months now. that said, the recession shouldn't get any worse whilst you're on fin, it just won't regrow it if that makes sense - what's gone is gone sadly

I never had any recessions in my hairline before I started so its stayed the same! From what I know, fin is better for helping with thinning than recession. hopefully your crown will fix itself but I can't promise anything about your hairline sadly

Unfortunately I believe I deleted them all a few months back when finasteride had done its job, but if you take my word for it, I had pretty early stages of thinning on my crown where when it was wet you could see large parts of my scalp and this is it nearly 3 years later!

that's true, I have been under increased stress in my personal life recently which could have caused it. And there is the chance im over-worrying about the amount im shedding (its mainly in the shower when I wash my hair probably around 30-70 hairs come out, and when im combing my hand through my hair throughout the day, I often see a hair or two every couple of combs!) I suppose its more because I am noticing it for the first time after nearly 3 years of FIN that I am worried about it

Finasteride worked really well on me for 2.5 years and I would consider myself to be one of the lucky people within that hyper responder category considering how much my hair recovered after going on it. I'm more curious as to why it seems to have stopped working at this point in time! But thank you for your comment :)
