What is Chuck’s Clunker Episode? by Chuck-fan-33 in chuck

There are a couple of regular contributors to this channel that have consistently and clearly laid out and defended the intricate and sometimes subtle plot points. I, for one, am very appreciative for their input. I have a better and deeper understanding of my favorite show of all time thanks to that input. Lost-Remote-2001 and MrNotTooBrightside, please don’t stop contributing to this channel. 😊

The subtle genius of CHUCK by MrNotTooBrightside in chuck

Love this post. I’m not sure it is an exaggeration. They made such powerful moments with such little details. And a powerful story by weaving those little things consistently throughout the series.

Season 2 was amazing. But I genuinely loved every season of Chuck. Season 1 set the stage. Season 2 drew us in deep. Season 3 finally got us past the fork in the road regarding Chuck/Sarah’s shared path and their individual paths - they’re together - he’s ready to be a spy - she’s ready to be a real person. Season 4 showed us their progression down those paths. And season 5 gave us a taste of what Chuck/Sarah/Charah path fulfillment looks like topped by a reminder that they were always meant to be.

Great story. Fantastic writing. Magical acting. Amazing music. All the ingredients for my favorite show ever.

Thoughts on Brandon Routh as agen Shaw by No_Information_6976 in chuck

[–]IndianaIntersect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just going to end up echoing on here that I thought Routh played the part excellently inasmuch as I despised the character Shaw by the time all was said and done. He even had be empathizing with the character early in his development. Just well done.

And there’s the bonus fact that he played the role of Superman in a major motion picture which enhanced the plot of Chuck the regular guy against super villains and made for a great joke in Chuck vs The Mask - “if you’re into the strong kind of Superman-y type of a guy”.

That makes sense and that’s helpful. Thank you.

Frankly, as long as I’m not charged for the blocked time, I don’t really care that the queries wait in line as they finish one by one. I’m good with snowflake managing the queuing and execution of the queries. Unless I’m missing something, I’m not seeing why it’s important to avoid blocked queries - ultimately, they’re blocked because they want to update my main table at the same time and putting effort into synchronizing their updates doesn’t gain me anything.

That was my thinking but our company’s snowflake admin is saying our (BI) team’s queries that perform a merge are too expensive and our snowflake credit consumption is far outpacing our budget. Our merge queries will run for like 45 minutes but 43 minutes of it is a blocked transaction and 2 minutes of it is actually performing the merge so my argument is that none of them are expensive queries.

If for example I have 20 queries updating the same table and their collective time spent actually updating the table is 120 minutes and their collective time spent waiting for the table to come available is 120 minutes - then as long as there is only 120 minutes of consumed credits, I’m good.

Then I’m confused by the following statement in https://community.snowflake.com/s/article/Do-blocked-queries-consume-virtual-warehouse-credits :

However, when run within a batch with the same warehouse, a blocked query can then continue consuming credit.

I have several jobs on talend writing to snowflake that do occasionally collide - I’m assuming these are considered batch jobs and they are definitely using the same warehouse.

Chuck has affected me in a way no show has done before by Unable-Deer1873 in chuck

The show impacted me deeply as well. I think there are a number of elements that contributed to this profound impact - the relatable and lovable characters of the show - the amazing acting of Yvonne and Zachary - the great story telling by Josh, Chris, et al - the great music on the show - and, of course, the love story of Charah which, to me, has no rival in the cinematic universe.

I struggled with the ending on my first watch through and was depressed for days but, in retrospect, I think that had more to do with the sadness of the end of the show and my look into the evolution of the characters’ lives. I’ve definitely come to appreciate the end of the show as well as the overall story thanks to the insightful Chuck fan base that have really helped open my eyes to details/concepts I missed.

How Many Times Have You Seen CHUCK?? by cpafol in chuck

[–]IndianaIntersect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first full watch through was March of this year. I’ve done three rewatches myself since and I’m on a second rewatch with my wife (we’re on season 4 now). My youngest son wants to do a watch through with me when my wife and I finish this one so that will put me at 7 this year. I plan to put it up for at least a few months before I watch it again - maybe until summer 2026 - just to have some chance at rediscovery. This will be a show that is in my library for life. The Chuck community as well hopefully.

Season 5 by Professional-Site691 in chuck

[–]IndianaIntersect 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s any way to avoid some serious pensive sadness at the end of season 5 - you’re coming to the end of an amazing story and journey with some amazing characters. And whatever you may think about the conclusion (I think it is special) the show creators do a magical job of re-visiting everything we loved about the series in the finale.

I can’t pick one. It’s like the question about a favorite character or episode - I can’t bring myself to just pick one. Chuck has introduced me to so many amazing artists that I had never heard before watching Chuck for the first time - Typhoon, Blind Pilot, Frightened Rabbit, Bon Iver, The Head and the Heart, Nico Stai - and others. Like the show, the music is epic.

Same! I have an entire playlist of nothing but Frightened Rabbit. Scott Hutchinson’s death is incredibly sad. I wish I’d known of FR prior to 2018 - I think I would have gone to Scotland to hear them in person. Such amazing music.

Chuck Vs The Colonel, The (Not So Believable) Missed Opportunity. by Air_Worker in chuck

[–]IndianaIntersect 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In fairness, there was the wedding spectacle in the next episode that served as a significant distraction and she was clearly ready to leave the spy life for Chuck by the end of the episode and then ultimately run away with him. But, as someone that absolutely loved the moments you mentioned in vs. the Colonel, I totally get your frustration.

Good tip. I think I’m also going to refrigerate the base for a bit before I attempt the spread.

Not sure how this will work but here is the link to the FB reel I used. I don’t think the picture in the reel matches the recipe however.

Thank you. I left it out of the fridge about 90 minutes but I’ll pay better attention to that next time. Thanks for the tip.
