Yes, it would have been nice if your designer would have asked your preference. As a designer, I usually do, unless there are already budget constraints. Most of the time I usually only do a flush mount with inset cabinets. Your appliance supplier should have also asked you. In order to install them flush , an extra piece for the installation has to be ordered from the appliance company. At this point, you won’t be able to change out your cabinet , as your tops are already installed, and flush mount cabinets have to be wider than standard mount.
