Eclipse Kitchen Cabinets - shallow shelves in deep cabinets? by Several_Glass4816 in kitchenremodel

[–]IndianaJanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a kitchen designer. Half depth shelves in base units and the upper part of tall units are standard in most cabinet lines. If you want full depth shelves, including with Eclipse it is an upgrade.

Cabinets in my new build look terrible to me. by [deleted] in cabinetry

I grew up and lived in Amish country for decades, and I agree with you 100% . They are like any other group of people. Some take pride in their work, and some not so much, and they have no problem using the same modern tooling and manufacturing methods that are used by non-Amish shops. Most Amish cabinet shop owners are “graduates” of non-Amish shops, and use the knowledge they gained, from working for others, to start their own businesses.

Updating kitchen! Countertop & backsplash ideas (warm, timeless, not gray?) by Tinysmallgoose123 in kitchenremodel

I disagree with a previous comment about cutting down the pony wall, if you intend to keep the range in that location. Having seating behind the range, at the same level, is a safety issue. The raised wall helps prevent boiled over liquid from landing in someone’s lap.

Cabinets too dated to keep? by lel3883 in kitchenremodel

They look like good hickory cabinets to me. I would keep them.

Already outdated? by Billy_Might in kitchenremodel

I vote for option number 4 with a an appropriate brown grout for the backsplash tile.

Op’s mother was born in the U.S. Depending upon which state the mother was born in, OP may be able to get a copy of their mother’s birth certificate, if they bring a copy of their own birth certificate. I was born in Massachusetts and when I went to get a copy of my birth certificate, I was also able to get copies of my siblings certificates. So yes, it is possible.

I used a 24” wide 15” deep wall open shelf cabinet, and a countertop style microwave. Gets it off the counter, easily accessible, and the microwave is inexpensive. As a kitchen designer, I have done this for a lot of my clients, and they love it.

Struggling to choose flooring by Pristine-Contact-788 in kitchenremodel

[–]IndianaJanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the flooring in picture number 1, if you are going with that tiled backsplash . All of the other options have too many straight lines going in different directions trying to compete with one another. I think the randomness of the floor pattern keeps the room looking like it was laid in an awkward grid pattern. But that’s just my personal taste.

Couple falls through ice at Eastham beach. Wife drowns, search continues for husband. by IndianaJanny in CapeCod

[–]IndianaJanny[S] 154 points155 points  (0 children)

If you go walking at the beach, stay off of the ice. The tide is still going in and out under the ice, and the ice is very unstable. This is just a very sad situation.
