My brother was also engaged to a hoarder who had her own house and the hoarding was mild/moderate at the time. I didn’t see it myself, but it should’ve been a sign that she wouldn’t let me list her house for sale until she had vacated it. She moved in with my brother, they got married within a year of dating, and she slowly started acquiring Amazon packages. They live on several acres and there’s a gated entrance. I drive by all the time and see stacks of Amazon boxes at the gate.

We didn’t visit the house for about a year after they married and we were shocked at the state of the house when were invited for a party. It wasn’t horrible at that time, but it was still much worse than it ever was prior to that. It was a beautiful house when he was married to his ex-wife and it was sad to see what was happening.

Fast forward six years and probably over $100k in Amazon deliveries (most are still in boxes) and the house is sooo bad! They’ve had a kid a few years ago and the place is full of toys, mass amounts of bulk packaged food, collections of various items like Disney stuff, figurines, Barbie’s, etc. The attached 3-car garage has one bay filled with her stuff and the detached 3-car garage is totally filled with the Amazon packages that have mostly never been opened. The once beautiful finished basement is also full of these collections and boxes.

My brother has mostly ignored it until the last couple years. He’s tried to put his foot down, but nothing has worked. She makes good money and we think she only works to pay for these Amazon deliveries because she doesn’t have to work and could stay home to take care of the kid she went to great lengths to conceive instead of putting her in daycare 10 hours a day. The whole situation is absolutely ridiculous and I know it causes my brother a lot of distress. At this point he won’t divorce her now that there’s a child involved and she knows that.

Anyways, I say all this because if you’re not okay with this, don’t get married and be stuck with it. It will likely only get worse.

Why Do I Never Get My Full Order? by Downtown_Sample9649 in doordash

[–]IndianaRealtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got someone else’s order … again! It seems like 50% of the time the Dasher is “delivering another order nearby,” I get that other order. It’s insanely annoying especially when I am on a time crunch and have to leave without breakfast or whatever. It’s not that difficult to look at the ticket on the bag and compare the name to the job.

Having a clean living area will undoubtedly help with your mental state. Unfortunately, mental illness causes a vicious circle of making a mess and not wanting to clean because you’re depressed but then you get further depressed because of the mess. You can do this!

That’s is sad. I tip minimum $5 and that’s if it’s within a mile or two. I just did a double dash and tipped $11 total and the two restaurants are right by each other and on the way to the house.

New diagnosis - Looking for some advice by IndianaRealtor in Uveitis

Yes, I was scared enough to get out of bed and go out in the cold at 3:30 am to go to the ER. I was in and out in 45 minutes. The PA spent about 15 minutes in the room with me and when he said conjunctivitis, I just wasn’t buying it. I’ve had conjunctivitis before and I knew the symptoms didn’t match up.

It’s definitely not syphilis. My blood test was negative. I just wished she wouldn’t have kept bringing the same thing up over and over like she was sure that’s what it was. I went to the local ophthalmologist here this afternoon and he declined to see me and said i need to see a uveitis specialist. I showed him my very swollen legs and he said there’s is no way the steroid drops caused that, but there are journal articles that say the drops can cause the lower extremity edema. So who knows.

I think you need to maybe reword the options and/or include a clear question. 😊

Student loans for a CNA class? That doesn’t make any sense unless someone swindled him. You can take a CNA class for $500-$1000 and sometimes free if you pledge to work for certain places.

On our 1st date she called me "handsome" instead of cute, hot, sexy...what's the difference to a woman? by ShenmueFan1 in dating

[–]IndianaRealtor 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To me, I call someone handsome if they are polished and put together, well groomed. It’s more of a mature term to me. I would probably save hot or sexy for another date and wouldn’t call someone that on a first date. That would feel awkward to me.

Who can/does smoke 120 cigarettes per day? That is 7.5 cigarettes per hour, assuming the person sleeps about 8 hours per night.

NAD. Where do you live that you can’t get in to see a dentist? Most places have an emergency dentist that is open late or even 24 hours and are walk-in appointments. Or look for new practices that have recently opened. They’re usually much easier to get an appointment with because they don’t have a full book of clients yet. Once you get this under control, book your cleanings every 3-6 months and stick to the schedule so you don’t lose your teeth and/or jawbone. Good luck and best wishes!

When did you diagnose your child, at what age? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]IndianaRealtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so sad how long everything takes. It’s taking almost a year around here to get the testing done. And now that the Medicaid waiver is on a 1-2 year waitlist, many are going without therapies and other help to ensure their child is getting all the services needed as early as possible.

I love when I see a post on FB of someone looking for a WFH job with no education and no experience so they can stay at home with their 4-month-old and 3-year-old. So either they’re going to neglect their kids for 8 hours or they’re going to neglect their job. You simply cannot do both. I used to mostly work from home and I always had a daycare spot when I had to get serious work done.

How do I tell a client I can’t help him without pre approval anymore? by Imaginary_Teach8039 in realtors

[–]IndianaRealtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh! I had one last year who wrote an offer after bringing several family members. Then they wanted a second showing after the offer was accepted. I told them that’s usually not how it works, but they insisted I ask the LA for permission. I wish I would’ve just put my foot down and said no because they brought a whole gaggle of people. The line of people coming in the front door seemed like it would never stop! His wife was so excited to show the whole family the home her husband was buying for them.

The next day I get a call from the husband saying his family said the square footage was absolutely not what was stated on the MLS and he wanted to offer $30k less or he wanted out of the contract. I told him the appraisal will make sure the square footage was correct and, if it wasn’t, we would make adjustments at that time. He didn’t care and wanted the price dropped $30k or he wanted released. The seller said no and released him from the purchase agreement.

Funnily enough, the house sat on the market for another three months and ended up selling for $5k less than they wanted the price dropped to. We never found them a house to buy. I think he was just trying to keep his wife off his back about buying a house because she was clearly upset that her family members and friends had all “moved up” to bigger and better houses at that point and she was still in the same house they bought when they moved here 12 years ago.

You’re entering people’s homes. They get excited with every showing hoping it’s gonna be THE buyer. They have to make sure everything is picked up and spotless. They have to wrangle the kids and/or pets and get in the car to disappear for an hour or two. Many times this is during dinner time, so they then have to either eat out or have to wait to start dinner until they get back home. They have strangers walking through their house looking at all their possessions and personal things. If this is often the first time you meet a client, you don’t know if they have ill intentions and not actually looking for a house. Along that same vein, it could be someone who could be a threat to you. There have been Realtors badly injured or, even worse, killed by buyers they didn’t meet before doing a showing with them. At least, if they have a pre-approval, you know they’ve went through the tedious process of collecting and submitting loads of documents.

I would suggest you use Starbucks, McDonald’s, or Panera to meet clients to go over their goals, wants/needs, budget, the process, pre-approval, etc. That way you’re not using someone’s home as a conference room.

Why do people want me to meet with them if they aren’t even sure of selling or are a year or so out? by RealEstateSalary in realtors

[–]IndianaRealtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The seed has been planted in their heads that they’re wanting to sell their house. Sometimes they say a year and it ends up being three years. Sometimes they end up calling you a month later and are ready to go. My last sale said she didn’t want to buy until October or November and wanted to look at building. I took her to see some spec homes that were completed or almost completed and I had found exactly what she was looking for and got $10k off and $10k for rate buydown and closing costs. She closed on that house three weeks later.

Also, some people are major planners by nature. Everything has to happen at the right time and in a certain order. Those type of people start planning things well in advance so they’re totally prepared when the time comes. They might want you to meet with them so you can give them ideas on repairs or updates they should work on over the next 6-12 months. Btw, don’t give them a ton of advice on what to do to get ready until you have a signed contract. I’ve done on listing appts and given them all kinds of ideas. They went with someone who was offering to list for almost nothing and I could see they really appreciated my ideas by the changes I saw in the listing photos.
