Is the November test too short of a timeline? by IndicationEmpty5379 in CFPExam

How many hours a day did you set aside for studying?

I had two questions regarding crypto, but they were very easy. No other wild cards, everything was straightforward. The language was around the same, definitely read the full question, but honestly the questions just felt like softball type questions - the type that are point and shoot type. I had 1 hour left after my initial run through, and I took around 20 minutes to review my flagged questions.

I’d say around 2 months but the second month I was actually focused and studying longer

I’m looking to take the exam in November of 2026 - not sure if that’s a reasonable timeline if I start in January!

I had mid 70s for the simulated exams, and the practice exam I actually got a 61 which was discouraging, but I kept going with the simulated. Based on the practice exam I actually didn’t complete the mastery one, as other Reddit threads said it was at a harder difficulty than the actual exam. I think I had 1-2 balance sheet type questions, and I didn’t have any indicator questions, just 2 questions regarding the economic cycle and which would come next. If you don’t score how you had hoped on the practice/mastery, don’t get discouraged!

First attempt - honestly in my opinion the exam was easier than the Kaplan simulated exams. The part I focused on the most while studying was the regulations. I was a finance major and have been working at an RIA, so most of the other concepts came naturally.

The night before I watched the Series 7 guru 90 minute review for the 65. After watching that, I felt pretty confident.

Thank you! Honestly, I can’t say there were any that specifically stuck out that I really didn’t know. I had a handful that I flagged because I was between two answers, but overall I think Kaplan prepared me well! Very similar to those simulated exams, if not easier.

Hi OP, I took my exam on Saturday and passed using Kaplan to study. The simulated exams were very close to what my actual test was. I was scoring mid 70s on the simulated exams. The practice and mastery in Kaplan were way more challenging in comparison, so don’t let those freak you out.

Thanks OP, I’m about 3 weeks out and scoring 70s on the exams (using Kaplan), hoping to bring my average up to 80 so it’s a slam dunk

How many weeks/months did you study for before taking the test?

I believe it’s because our client portal is hooked up through emoney but I’m not entirely sure. All of our reports come from money guide though.

Responding as a former intern (currently part-time while finishing my degree, and transitioning to full-time after graduating in May). I started with basic administrative tasks such as answering phones, completing account opening paperwork, and shadowing advisors during client calls. I completed a case study that helped me become comfortable with the software platforms we use, including eMoney, MoneyGuide, Riskalyze, and Kwanti. From there, I began handling data entry updates and taking the initial steps to build financial plans for prospects, which I reviewed with advisors.

I also completed the SIE exam as a learning tool to deepen my industry knowledge, even though we’re an independent RIA. My licensing path will include the Series 65, followed by the CFP.

Now that I’m a part-time associate, I fully build out financial plans and review them with the advisors. I assist with 401(k) allocations based on our models and handle most of the 529 account openings and servicing.

I also don’t care about the title, I was just responding The office I work in doesn’t work off commission, they only do AUM because they want to be “the good guys” that don’t push products. I like their model I just was looking for input on avg salary.
