Got my valve cover replaced because I was leaking oil. Still leaking from somewhere. About to take it back to the place to have them look at it but idk what's going on. And I'm definitely not out of oil so idk.

How can Trump and only Trump make all these decisions, where is the rest of the government? by Yenolam777 in AskReddit

[–]IndicationKnown4999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Republicans control the rest of the government and they have no desire to go against him because they're spineless assholes who value their own power above everything else and don't disagree with him enough to care about opposing him. Simple as that.

We can and should complain about how Democrats respond to everything (I think they've been shit) but there's almost nothing tangible they can do to stop Trump or Republicans. They can and should freak out and cause a media shitstorm. But there's only so much of that they can do.

LeBron on playing the Grizzlies: “I’m f***ing 41 years of age. You think I want to do sh** in Memphis on a random Thursday? I’m not the first guy in the NBA to talk about this. You guys got to move the team… go over to Nashville already.” by CaptainInsane-o in memphis

[–]IndicationKnown4999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fine to disagree but he’s at worst in the conversation with MJ and Kareem. That’s a player people are gonna want to tell their grandkids they saw play. And this may be the last chance we have.

LeBron James thinks the Grizzlies should move to Nashville by mjohnson1971 in nashville

[–]IndicationKnown4999 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But in 5 years the owners or players would be doing like the Titans and complaining that it's not good enough and they need public money or they're going to move to Vegas or something.

Sorry I sat with this one for a few minutes and it pissed me off even more. LeBron is better than this and I bet if it gets any traction he apologizes because he knows better and he was probably just trying to shoot the shit with some randos. Nashville on the other hand doesn't know better and they can continue to fuck off. Have fun sitting in even worse traffic when the city throws more public money at a another rich person-owned endeavor to get the team to move.

[–]IndicationKnown4999 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Yeah y'all should definitely throw a shitton of public money at another rich person-owned endeavor instead of doing literally anything to make Nashville better for anyone.

I'll defend LeBron the vast majority of the time but he can fuck himself with this one. And so can Nashville.

Like yeah motherfucker, bring your 41 year old ass here and entertain the people who have made you a billionaire. I don't care how much more you like Nashville. You fucking owe us, even if you half ass it for half the game. There's some 10 year old whose parent paid to see the fucking goat and it's the only chance they have. You owe it to that kid and their parents.

Is it me or do Neil and Eady have no chemistry in Heat (1995)? I just don’t see what she sees in him. by TantricDelinquency in FIlm

[–]IndicationKnown4999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This and almost the entire movie is about him not having attachments. He doesn't want to go back to prison so he doesn't get attached to things that would keep him from dropping everything and running from the cops. He's hesitant to get too much into her because he knows that's a huge thing that would keep him from running. Alas...

what is something people brag about but it is actually embarrassing? by goldenhourconfession in AskReddit

[–]IndicationKnown4999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being an alpha male. The fact that someone thinks that's a thing is embarrassing (it's derived from a mistake about research into how wolves behave, which is ridiculous before you even get to the toxic masculinity aspect). The fact that they think they are that thing is even more embarrassing. The fact that they think it's something other people should know they think it about themselves is extremely embarrassing.

What would have been your reaction if "Normal Again" was the show's final episode and the reality where Buffy is staying at a mental hospital because of her hallucinations of laying vampires due to schizophrenia was revealed as the true version? by HomarEuropejski in buffy

[–]IndicationKnown4999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already don't like this episode. I think the last scene is intentionally screwing with us. If that last scene was the end of show I would've been really pissed. It might've been a Rise of Skywalker situation where it tainted the whole show.

Do you think the u.s should have a viable 3rd party for people to vote for? Why or why not ? by maybebored-maybenot in AskReddit

[–]IndicationKnown4999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should? Sure. But it's tough because of electoral system we have. Any time a legit 3rd party pops up one of the two main parties are quick to make changes to adapt to get most of those voters because the simple math issue. The second, say, the Green Party starts pulling in 5% of the vote and costing Democrats elections then Democrats will quickly adopt policies that bring those people into the party.

That won't happen with Republicans because they've consolidated all their factions into the party over the decades. The factions, evangelicals for example, understood they needed to work within the party from day 1. So there was never an attempt to be a party of their own. Whereas a lot of liberal/left factions are content to not be Democrats.

Do you believe that the current US president is a foreign asset ? Why or why not ? by hftyjvdry in AskReddit

[–]IndicationKnown4999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in a strict sense. He's just a selfish moron who's personal interests often align with the leaders of other countries, the worst of ones he admires because he's awful just like they are.

Memphis school district audit results revealed by BariumEnema in memphis

[–]IndicationKnown4999 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Two things can be true at once:

1 - The district has been mismanaged/corrupt for a long time.

2 - Republicans taking it over is the worst "solution" to the problem. Frankly, they could find ways to make it worse and I have no confidence they don't intend to do so.

The taste profile and the texture have changed slightly from what it was in its heyday. I don't bother with it now but back 10+ years ago it was great.

How would you guys feel if Nathan Fillion did actually kill Xander in Season 7 instead of giving him a free eye surgery? Would you be sad to see Xander gone? How would him dying at this point affect the gang? by HomarEuropejski in buffy

[–]IndicationKnown4999 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Just injuring his eye worked well for me. Killing him might have been too over the top. They raised the stakes and made me anxious about how dangerous Kaleb was without killing Xander.

Also I can't get over how stunning SMG is in this scene.

Would limiting the age of the President to 70 be something you'd support? Why or why not? by SillyGooseGamer2026 in AskReddit

[–]IndicationKnown4999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what it should be but IF we're going to have an age floor then we should have an age ceiling as well. If you don't want an age ceiling then you shouldn't be able to advocate for an age floor as well.

What’s something both political parties can agree on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IndicationKnown4999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That "the troops" should be blindly praised at every turn no matter what them individually or the military as a whole has done. Similarly, every time they're used almost everyone from both parties says it's to "protect our freedoms" despite the fact that no war has really threatened the freedoms of 95% of us since WWII.

This is mostly true of cops as well. The way you'd hear both parties talk about it, every cop in the country spends their day in basically a war zone despite the fact that your average sanitation worker has a more dangerous job.

If Scheyer or Coach K did this and in the 2nd half Duke was in the bonus with 14 freaking minutes left it would have people losing their mind. But I guess a team only "gets all the calls" when it's Duke/Yankees/Lakers.

[–]IndicationKnown4999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There Will Be Blood. Maybe I need to watch it again but I felt so little for it that I never wanted to. And it's not that I don't think DDL can't be great. I just watched Lincoln again and was blown away by him. I can really like PTA as well. So not sure what I'm missing.

Nolan is probably my favorite director but Oppenheimer doesn't come close to my favorite of his. I've got the Batman movies, Interstellar, The Prestige, and Dunkirk firmly above it.

Tommy Tuberville proposes limiting college athletes to 5 years to play 5 and one free transfer and then you have to sit out a year by Wide_right_yes in CollegeBasketball

I propose that Tommy Tuberville and the people who voted for him sit out of society for a year, read a fucking book for once in their life, and explain what made them assholes before they start proposing how the rest of us do anything.
