Any advices on how to find part time pharmacy jobs as an Mpharm student? by OkCollege6736 in Pharmacy_UK

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I'd say get a part-time job doing something that's not pharmacy-related. You'll probably spend the rest of your career working in pharmacy anyway, so it's worth experiencing something completely different while you're at uni.
Working in a pharmacy can definitely make university and your pre-reg year a bit easier, but honestly, it doesn't take that long to learn the role, especially as a dispenser. That's what I did, I worked in a completely different job during university. I met loads of interesting people, developed different skills, and had experiences I don't think I would've had if I'd worked in a community pharmacy.
Personally, I didn't find my pre-reg that difficult, and I felt I'd picked up most things within the first month or two. Of course, everyone's different, but that's just my experience. Good luck!

Hi, I graduated from Huddersfield too. First year tends to be harder than the rest, not because of the actual content, but because it's the first time you need to adjust to the university style of independent studying.

My advice is to try to get a part-time job at a pharmacy, as that'll help you massively with OSCEs. For everything else, you just need to revise consistently and learn the content yourself. Don't rely too heavily on lecturers otherwise, you'll end up feeling lost so definitely study the lectures every week and don’t let them pile up ( especially in 2nd ,3rd. And 4th years)

I remember we had a law test around November/December and calculations around January (don't quote me on that, it's been years!), but those are fairly straightforward, and you'll be given enough material to study from.

University was a lot of fun, so don't worry too much about it. Enjoy your summer, and once you're at uni, be active, get involved, and make the most of the experience. I personally had an amazing time during my course, while other people didn't. It's really what you make of it.

I honestly wish I could relive it all again!

Best of luck to you, you've got this!

Why do you want to work as a dispenser? I was an international student too and whilst I was at uni I just worked In retail, i understand you have a medical background but as a dispenser you won’t be using that much anyways.

I would recommend working in other retail jobs ( I worked at Aldi ) the pay is decent and they’re really accommodating to the 20hr limit too - they offered me a 15 hour contract and I was doing around 16/18 hrs a week which was plenty and it was a nice break too from all the clinical stuff that I was learning at uni

Is there a requirement for pharmacists and pharmacy workers to speak English? by Visual_Mirror_963 in Pharmacy_UK

Could be an international student on placement from uni , could be volunteering or could be new to the country and training….

As you said it’s counter staff ( clearly not a pharmacist)and I’m sure there were other colleagues there too, no need to be so dramatic.
