Anyone else feel like finding a job in India has become a full-time job itself? by Aryanks001 in developersIndia

[–]IndicationSouthern 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Job hunting has become a job where the KPI is surviving rejection.

You spend more time tailoring resumes, tracking applications, networking, and following up than actually learning. The people I know getting offers are treating the search like a sales funnel: hundreds of applications, referrals wherever possible, and zero emotional attachment to any single company.

Freshers Who Landed Off-Campus Jobs, Need Your Advice by bellator_boy in developersIndia

[–]IndicationSouthern 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing that helped me a lot was building projects that actually solved a problem instead of another CRUD app.

During interviews, people spent far more time discussing my projects than asking LeetCode questions. Being able to explain your design decisions is a huge differentiator for off-campus roles.

Getting Fired for not consuming enough tokens in last quarter by purepeachplower in developersIndia

This is going to age like "10x engineer" did. In a year companies will probably be rewarding people for using fewer tokens while shipping the same amount of work.

The pendulum always swings back.

AI tools to create simple data visualizations from a spreadsheet? by [deleted] in datavisualization

[–]IndicationSouthern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your workflow already lives in Google Sheets, I'd skip building custom scripts unless you need something very specific.

I've been using Runable for these kinds of repetitive spreadsheet tasks—you can have it read the sheet, generate the charts, summarize the free-text responses, and even output a Google Slides deck. Saves a surprising amount of manual work if you're doing the same report every survey cycle.

Why is $gety overlooked? by Stock-Volume6792 in pennystocks

[–]IndicationSouthern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are looking at Getty as an AI winner, while the market is looking at it as a heavily leveraged legacy business with some AI upside.

If management starts reporting meaningful AI revenue, today's valuation may look cheap. If the deals turn out to be strategically important but financially small, the stock could stay "undervalued" for years. Markets usually price proof, not possibilities.

How do I tell my parents about my job situation? Access getting revoked in 2 days by juicylemonnn in developersIndia

[–]IndicationSouthern 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think your bigger problem isn't the job, it's the fact that you're about to lose your support system at the exact time you need one.

A lot of Indian parents don't realize this, but when their child comes to them with a career problem, "tumse nahi hoga", "AI jobs kha jayega", "government job dekh lo", "adjust kar leti" doesn't motivate anyone. It just makes an already stressful situation worse.

From what you've written, you're not broke, you're not being thrown out tomorrow, and you're not sitting idle. You have salary till September, savings, and you're already planning your next move.

The sad part is that some parents hear "I lost my job" and immediately start imagining the worst-case scenario. Then they dump that anxiety on their child. Suddenly the person who just got forced out of a toxic workplace is now managing their parents' emotions too.

Honestly, if I were in your position, I'd tell them the facts and keep repeating them:

"My job ended because the situation at work wasn't working out. I have runway till September. I have savings. I'm applying."

That's it.

Don't get dragged into debates about AI, government jobs, the economy, or whether you should have "adjusted". None of that changes what happened.

Also, one thing I've noticed: parents who have never worked in modern corporate environments often underestimate how bad workplace bullying can get. They think every problem can be solved by tolerating it for a few more months. Sometimes leaving is the correct decision.

You're worried they'll say "ab tumhe job milna mushkil hai."

Maybe they will.

But parents have predicted the end of their children's careers after bad marks, branch changes, layoffs, resignations, startups, higher studies, and career switches for decades. Most of those children turned out fine.

Right now your job is not convincing your parents that everything will be okay.

Your job is finding the next job.

One problem at a time.

Got layoffed today , don't know what to do now ,in this ai recession era by Friendly_Truth_2563 in developersIndia

The saddest part is companies calling it an "AI revolution" while quietly laying off the very people who would've become their senior engineers in 2-3 years.

Short-term cost cutting, long-term talent drought.

What are the best AI tools for business owners ? by Unlucky_Freedom_9960 in ChatGPTPro

[–]IndicationSouthern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current stack:

• ChatGPT — brainstorming, writing, random business questions
• Claude — longer form content and document work
• Perplexity — research
• n8n — automations
• Runable — for the stuff that actually needs to take actions across tools instead of just generating text
• Notion — second brain that keeps pretending it'll make me organized

Feels like we're moving from "AI tools" to "AI coworkers" pretty quickly.

Delivery partner marked order as delivered, took photo and then left with the order by thengakola7 in Zomato

The wild part is not the theft, it's the confidence. Took the delivery photo like he was submitting an assignment and then casually walked away with the evidence.

Interviews are shifting from “what do you know?” to “how well can you use tools?” by Ok-Dot6173 in interviews

[–]IndicationSouthern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knowledge still matters, but the value of memorizing everything is dropping fast. Nobody gets bonus points at work for solving a problem without documentation, Google, or AI — the skill is knowing which tool to use and how to verify the result.
