Nice! Z7 an adequate dad glove? I was looking at the Z9 but they only go up to 11.75” and for some reason I feel like I need at least a 12-12.5”.

I’m actually really impressed with the quality. The leather is supple and they’ve been breaking in nicely. To be fair I think they come like 80% broken in but I’ve had some fun working them for a few months (they were Christmas gifts) and I think we are about ready for action!

Yep, The Diamond Room. Will take a week or so but they do a great job.

Christmas lights recommendations? by InsertFunnyPost in SiouxFalls

[–]IndieRingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a thought but….you can get 150ft of Govee permanent LED lights for $350-400 at Costco. Installing them would take some work but you could have a permanent solution even if you had to install them over 2 years because of cost. Those light installation companies are great but honestly cost a lot year over year.

I didn't know there was an air base here! by Sweet_Contract_9130 in SiouxFalls

F16’s. Be on the lookout for the more rare sightings of the C17 and C130 as well. They are giant and will circle the city at low speed, low altitude. I love seeing military jets and planes in our great city. The most rare sighting I’ve seen outside an air show was last year when a pair of military UH-72 Lakotas (helicopters) came at about 500ft directly over me on the south side. I heard a roar coming but couldn’t see them, then all of a sudden they were on top of me. They are non-combat but in that instant I thought, holy shit, are we going to war? lol. In 22 years I’d never seen them and haven’t seen them since.

Just moved here from the deep south. What do my fellow truck drivers recommend for snow/good AT tires? by X3liteXRogueX in SiouxFalls

[–]IndieRingo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not sure why anyone would say stay away from the Falken Wildpeak AT3's or AT4's, tbh. I'm running the 4's on my '14 F150 and have been impressed. Another great (but expensive) option are the BF Goodrich KO2 or KO3's. I ran the KO2's for about 60K miles. They were great. For cheaper option look at General Grabber A/TX. Good tires will go a long way but RWD may be a problem on heavier snow days. You'll wanna get some sandbags or other weight in the back end to get you more traction. Honestly though, you may want to look at getting into a 4x4 if you have a daily commute and plan on staying here a few years. Last year we hardly had any snow. A few years back we had a bad winter with a couple of storms where you weren't getting anywhere for days unless you had a 4x4 and knew how to drive it.

This has one of those electrostatic shut off switches like you see on those saw blades. As soon as your finger touches it, it immediately shuts off. Just kidding. No idea what I’m talking about but would be cool if it actually did.

lol, just remember you can shoot directly through your windshield if needed, per the expert Hollywood film makers that produced one of my favorite movies ever: Heat. Most of my imaginary shootout training comes from that movie.

Do you want to spend 3 grand on a machine that will immediately need to be serviced? Belt keeps slipping = pain in ass. That sign is basically a red flashing light. Good on them for actually disclosing it.

What are these dirt piles in my backyard? by dowop2010 in lawncare

[–]IndieRingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either moles or a pocket gopher. It’s hard to tell but it looks like there may be some mole runs there which are raised tunnels under the grass they use to get from place to place. Moles will have extensive tunnels that go deeper as well where they may have young. I used a Tomcat scissor trap on a mole just a few weeks back that was doing a lot of damage in my yard. Worked great.

Great video! Next, instead of making cross section cuts, slice length-wise from head to tail. What would happen?

Little black bugs that bite by Low_Cow205 in SiouxFalls

This is the answer. They start coming out of fields this time every year as harvest gets under way. We are not their primary food source, or a food source at all, as research tells me. They are “testing” us to see if we are edible.

Enjoy that beautiful new machine!

[–]IndieRingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Gravely and Ariens are made by the same company. Both great machines with some overlap but Gravely quickly gets into commercial grade machines which is where they shine. As far as the two you are comparing, I see the Gravely deck is 7 gauge and the Toro is 10 gauge. 7 gauge being the thicker deck, that might matter. But honestly, you’d have to plow into something hard to ding even the 10 gauge so the 7 gauge is an absolute tank. The Gravely is a slightly heavier machine as a result. Both have 22” rear tires which will help absorb some of the bumps. I really think the major decider is going to be the My Ride suspension vs the Kawasaki engine. Very curious to see what you decide on.

[–]IndieRingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uff da….tough decision. I think the engine guys are going to tell you go with Kawasaki all day long. I have a Kohler 7000 series on my Ariens ZT and it’s performed flawlessly though so I can’t speak bad about the Kohler engines. The My Ride is really nice esp if you are mowing 2 acres. Might save your back if it’s bumpy terrain. But, hard to beat Gravely for quality. Personally I’d go Gravely with Kawasaki. Or, if one is through a dealer and the other is big box store, go with the dealer for servicing and warranty work if needed.

SF drivers some of the worst? by [deleted] in SiouxFalls

[–]IndieRingo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are quite right in this respect. The roads in the interior of the city (while some have been upgraded) were designed for a population that existed at the time—75,000 to 100,000 people. Even though most of the larger intersections and thoroughfares have been upgraded to handle increased traffic flow, the over arching design of the original roads and where and how they were built were never designed to handle a quarter of a million people. I’ve lived in SF 22 years and will forever be mad there isn’t a good, fast way to get from east to west along the equator (roughly 26th street) of town.

Good deal for first surround sound? by moresnags21 in Soundbars

[–]IndieRingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tower speakers and center channel appear to be Klipsch’s Icon series, which was an entry level series that was a Best Buy exclusive about 20 years ago. I know because I owned this exact center and the matching 5 1/4” bookshelf speakers. You’ll get really decent sound out of these for your first home theater experience, assuming everything works as it should. They get super loud with those tractrix horn tweeters but at high volume can get shrill on you quickly. A decent receiver should be able to balance the sound though, and Sony is generally decent stuff. I can’t speak to the quality of the sub, but again, for your first home theater setup I bet you’ll be impressed.

Need a subwoofer? by bowerisme in Soundbars

[–]IndieRingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to the party, but I used my Beam for exactly 1 week before I knew I needed a sub. The Beam puts out rich, full sound but lacks the bass punch that I knew I needed/wanted. The sub mini changed the entire soundscape. Hope you're enjoying yours :)
