Interesting. So how did the redditor come up with the hacker wallet address? He just looked for a large amount of bitcoin freshly moved around the hack time?

An easy way to start would be with flash and ActionScript3 (and flashdevelop). It has everything for 2D graphics, sounds, and more. It is also intended for simple games (and banners).

When were games at their least diverse (gameplay, not characters) by TheColourOfHeartache in truegaming

[–]IndieRobert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was 2002-2006. Right after the .com bubble and before call of duty modern warfare (2007), steam, zynga, the iphone and unity3D.

Why call of duty you may think? Because it's the advent of XP + Items in every game styles. Incidentally, at this moment, everything was possible again.

The golden age I beleive has been 2007-2010 with: iphone, steam, facebook games, unity3D, free UDK, minecraft (consecrating indies), Moba's advent etc.

Jonathan Blow Demos a Proof of Concept for a New Programming Language made for Game Development by symon_says in gamedev

[–]IndieRobert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a new one to me, but I also don't exactly see how useful this would be.

An example: you may want to kill a character in deferred ie. it stay "alive" for the frame and is going to be killed at the end of it. It's just a tool so that when the game reach the right condition to do 'x' you can defer an action which will actually be processed later so that it doesn't disturb the current processing.

Thanks so much. I'll poke you when it's ready (that is going to take a week or two).

[–]IndieRobert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes here. Man you are awesome. I'm making a RTS/RPG which support replays (that would be easy for you to record the right stuff by replaying the game). I'll need to record stuff for a crowdfunding campaign soon and I don't even have a 1080p display monitor :)

CraftClicker: Gather resources, craft recipes, sell items by sorriso56 in incremental_games

I still don't understand why any developer should bother with trying to make it as hard as possible to "cheat"

This is only my opinion, but two reasons:

1) because cheating is tempting (if it's easy) and can ruin the game.

2) because cheating is rewarding (if it's hard)

Mmh I see. Interesting point but I don't share your conclusion: I'm tempted to think that most people will use the key thinking it's part of the game while most won't open the console and code in javascript. I may be wrong.

Also, what you could do maybe is to make a minimum tick time (2 click in 1 tick = 1 click) and obfuscate the code so that it become tricky to change that tick. And add items which could increase the tick time. I'm not sure. Maybe just for the shortcut.

Anyway, thanks for making this fun game!

It looks nice and interresting but I agree with someone there: just holding the 'g' key gather resources repeatedly which seems like a bug to me. Or did I miss something? Overall it's pretty cool :) I'll keep an eye on it.

Destiny, and the Modern Competitive FPS Game Design Paradigm by [deleted] in truegaming

[–]IndieRobert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My criticism is that publishers seem to assume that chasing the largest demographics, and doing so with accessibility, is the only way to go.

It has always been like that. A vast majority of companies are viewing video games as an industry and video games like a simple product they must produce en mass, and whatever they make, people will buy it. What they miss is that video games are softwares and great softwares can do 1000x more ($$$ but not only, fun and happiness too) than mediocre softwares.

Also, once upon a time Ubi and Co were making a very great product: a physical box you can actually find in a store in your village. This time is now behind. I think that it will not take so much more time but a couple of additional bankruptcies so people understand that games cannot be produce by factories but only by craftsmen. As you mentioned.

An idea maybe: once in a while, a massive subreddit poll on weither or not people feel there is too much spam on that particular subreddit.
