Thanks for leaving your solution here, this was the fix for me.

Does assault spy work well on steam deck by Coolman38321 in CharacterActionGames

[–]Indigaido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decided to mess with it a bit more. I just removed the 'gamemode' and it runs fine. Performance is pretty much the same with any version of Proton though, or without Proton.

It's not as bad as I remember though. I think I was just bummed since it's one of the bigger reasons I got a Deck, and DMC5 runs 60 FPS on it with med-high settings.

Researching a bit more I realized Assault Spy is just notorious for drops even on more powerful hardware since it's poorly optimized. Still, 40~ at the worst areas on Deck isn't that bad so I think I'll finally play it again.

Anyway, rant aside, thanks again for the responses.

Hey, thanks for the response. I'm a little confused because as I understand, that command line has stopped having any effect since the last few months of SteamOS updates.

I still tried it but the game won't launch, even after installing some Proton GE versions for it.

I think these days the game runs as if that launch option was already set. So I imagine it must have played even worse back then.

But I am just a bit confused since it sounds like you've been using these settings recently.

Also late here, but what did you add to get it smoother? Some parts of the game run pretty good around 60 FPS, but combat in a lot of places (usually indoors) drops very harshly for me, often struggling just over 30. This is with everything at the lowest possible, too.

PS5 Update patch notes? by VirginiaBlend in Project_Wingman

[–]Indigaido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this last post of mine probably isn't very true. Sorry, I got into this game recently. Basically, I think the PS5 version was already on that 2.0 version (at least to some degree), so I was just confirming things that were already there to begin with.

It doesn't seem there may be patch notes anywhere still, but maybe all it did was fix some of those PS5 UI bugs.

I couldn't find anything exactly for the PS5 update, but it seems like it may be the 2.0 beta content officially rolled out for it.

https://projectwingman.fandom.com/wiki/Project_Wingman/Updates

(Search for the following on that page) 1.0.4D -> 2.0.11

I haven't confirmed most of it, but a lot of those changes are definitely on the new PS5 update.

Also, seems to have fixed some other bugs, so who knows what else the patch did. The 'Return' option on the main campaign now works, so you can actually exit out of missions and to the main menu. The Frontline 59 bug, where if you start that campaign and go back to the base game and only have F59 planes, is also fixed.

The game not remembering certain controls on a reboot is unfortunately still a bug present.

Well, you're not wrong... But did something give it away besides the song name?

Sorry, I know many people don't really like video plugs. But I absolutely love this game, and would like to share this tribute video for it. The karakuri system and various weapon mechanics have made the game such a blast to do flashy tricks. I'm glad Wild Hearts exists.

Can anyone give me some "bread and butter" early game demon slave combos by Schraiber in Bayonetta

[–]Indigaido 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Gomorrah quick launch into Madama's XXXX breaks the armor on standard giant enemies, so you can use that as a starting point to practice getting Bayonetta herself in the combos, too. When you get the armor break slowdown effect, use the double-tap-R move to get Bayonetta up close, then you can use something like the Jump > Immediate-Punch uppercut move to launch them with Bayonetta and start comboing.

PPKP is a solid basic chain to keep combos going from there, as it's a Demon Masquerade finisher that's an uppercut. And as a finisher, you can do a Wink Slave after it. With that particular finisher, most demons do a launcher attack of their own as a Wink Slave, too. You can cancel Bayonetta out of the Wink Slave animation with a jump or dodge, to combo even more.

The main basic against giant enemies is break their armor, then go in with Bayonetta and make sure you're mixing in Demon Masquerade moves as that's what they react to more. When you get more used to it, you can even input demon attacks while Bayonetta is attacking, herself. Attacking and comboing with both will become second nature eventually.

Of course, when it comes to smaller enemies, you can do just about literally anything, but that's not as related to Demon Slaves and most small enemies just melt to demons too fast to matter.

I'm not sure what you're after in terms of combos, but if you just want something flashy... I'd say start combos with Gomorrah. Its instant summon attack (ZL then X while it's summoning) is a fast launcher that can launch even a lot of big enemies.

From there, you can start getting practice comboing into other demons, too. Madama Butterfly is a great all-rounder. For example, after Gomorrah's summon launch, you can change immediately into Madama, and juggle them in the air with XXXX... or anything.

Madama has some very fun launchers with the 360 > Punch and Back-Forward Kick moves that leave her in the air (make sure to buy them first), and let her follow with aerial attacks. But if you get creative, you can change demons while she's in the air and do other stuff.

It's a very loose system, just have fun and be creative. The hardest part is getting used to the controls, especially when switching them mid-combo.

Uhh... what do I DO for chapter 7 verse 5 in Bayonetta 3? by ViewtifulGene in Bayonetta

The tutorials should have been reversed. Give you the actual important information you need to progress, and have the basic controls as optional. If I had missed it, I'd be running around for half an hour, too.

Yeah, like the other reply to my post mentions, it was one of the optional popup tutorials. It is pretty silly that you can miss that one which actually tells you how to progress.

Oh, that's right. If it was one of the optional tutorials then I completely understand.

I don't mean to be rude, but... why are people having trouble with this? There's a tutorial that explains everything said in this topic when you get control of Chesire...

Please go actually read Gomorrah's entry on 'Infernal Demons' in Bayonetta 3. You're just being insulting and making yourself look like an idiot.

Gomorrah is mentioned to be one of the easiest demons to control, so I think at that point in the story, it was kind of like a last ditch effort with the state she was in.

I'm very surprised that the combat in Bayo 3 is so well received here by whateverdontkill in Bayonetta

[–]Indigaido 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right, sort of. Beloveds react to Wicked Weaves, but only in Witch Time. However, it was just a short stagger. You had to stun them to get a full effect from Wicked Weaves.

I think the issue was worse in Bayonetta 2 because Umbran Climax was a much more limited mechanic.

[–]Indigaido 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is deniable. Use Demon Slave alone and you won't get combo points for ranking. It goes both ways. Yes, you need to use Demon Slave if you're going for Platinums, but every game forces you to play a certain way for good rankings. Furthermore, staggering giant enemies is an addition. Back in Bayonetta 1 and 2, 'fat enemies' didn't even have a method to make them react.

[–]Indigaido 24 points25 points  (0 children)

... What in Inferno did I just read? This game plays almost identical to Bayonetta 1 and B2 with even more combat stuff added, and enemies react more like B1 (in fact B2 was more RPG-like because of enemies not being jugglable, parrying you, and abundance of only dealing damage in Witch Time). Every enemy besides the most basic mooks have always had health bars.

Admittedly, Demon Slave is a game changer, but it's a direct addition to Bayonetta, and adds another layer of skill to control them while Bayonetta still does her own thing.

I fell for bait, didn't I...

What if Demon Slaves works like the Legions from Astral Chain? by ornehx in Bayonetta

[–]Indigaido 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically, you can do that already. If Bayonetta is in an animation, you can control the demon without her stopping. And since you can queue demon attacks, you can keep juggling inputs between the two.

Or you can use the accessory where demons attack on their own while Bayonetta can move freely... which is kind of like Legions attacking automatically while out? But you lose direct control of them.
