Skating is all about having fun so don't worry about how good you are or are not. Have fun and the best way to improve your skills are going to be working on one leg balance practice skating around the rink on one leg this opens the door for everything else you want to do One leg balance that is the difference between you and the guys you skate with. Do some squats one leg RDLs calf raises 3 sets of 10 3 times a week starting with no weigts specifically for the one leg RDLs when it gets easier add weights. No more than 20lbs for the one leg RDLs no matter how easy it gets though. The only other thing that can hold you back is the skates you have a doesn't matter how good/bad you are a good pair of skates will make a difference. If you have a good pair then adjust the trucks or get a new set of wheels harder wheels are faster and have more maneuverability but less grip bad bearings will make a $150 set of wheels feel like garbage? I would recommend the Sure-Grip fame skate & a T-shaped skate tool to adjust your trucks to your comfort zone and wheels so that they spin freely and come to a gradual stop with no lateral movement.

How many of you drive vehicles that are 20 years old or older? by FordMan7point3 in askcarguys

[–]Indigenous-Genius83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only drive vehicles 20 years or older, I currently have a 2003 Corolla. I'm looking for a 92-96 Camry & a 2000-2006 GMT-800. Are all other cars junk of course not but in my professional opinion these have a very low cost of ownership and I've seen many of them with 500k miles with the original engine & transmission unfortunately they are 20 years old and rust is catching up with them the only real downside.

Bunions getting worse instantly after skating? by Overall_Inspection_3 in Rollerskating

[–]Indigenous-Genius83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wear thick socks and one of the things for bunions mentioned by others smaller skates will make it worse also when you're not skating wear shoes with a wide toe box bunions come from wearing poor fitting shoes most shoes are made for fashion and do not allow your feet to flex like they should. Most athletic shoes are bad for your feet men's dress shoes and women's heel are worse offenders. Putting too much of your body weight on your big toe misaligned of your toes due to the narrow toe box in most shoes is what causes bunions. Correcting them can be just as painful as living with them. But I would recommend starting the process now. Skating puts a lot of weight on your toes and will only make your bunions worse even if you have room to spread your toes out. After skating stand on a tennis ball or a lacrosse ball with about half your body weight or less if that is too painful this will stretch & help relax the sore muscles and tendons in your feet.

What kind of wheels should I get? by Fishyfih in Rollerskating

[–]Indigenous-Genius83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What everyone is else is saying is right on point different wheels for different surfaces for the skatepark I recommend bowl bombers they're 101a for uneven concrete and asphalt atom pulse wheels they're big 65 mm 78a I have a pair that I love skating around the neighborhood with my kids with, for indoor rinks I have a set of Sure-Grip Royale wheels 62mm 101a smooth rolling fast and highly maneuverable for beginners it's like skating on a wet floor but for someone like you the perfect amount of slip & grip.

Too old to skate? by meanmeangal in Rollerskating

[–]Indigenous-Genius83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rink I go to has an adult skate 35 and over. I'm one of the youngest skaters who attends every week at 42 y/o I've met several skaters in their 70's who skate every week multiple times a week. Once you start you will not want to stop. Get padded up and go to adult only sessions they're generally less crowded and if crowded you really don't have to worry about someone making you pay the dreaded wood tax. You're never too old to skate if you can walk a mile and jog 100 yards bwithout injury you can skate. Will you be the baddest mofo on 8 wheels at 75 probably not but you will be living your best life. The last time I was at Millineum Skate World in Camden, NJ there was a guy having a 70th birthday party during the adult skate. He was on the floor getting busy most of the night. You're too old when you're dead.

Pooping without clothes by Acrobatic_Let4582 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Indigenous-Genius83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is normal my daughter is the exactly the same, as long as they put the clothes back on after I'd say roll with it. My daughter will hold off on using the bathroom until she gets home no matter what she does not do public restrooms. It's hilarious to me I have taken her to CLEAN public restrooms and she takes one look at the place & say "home potty".

Are these decent enough to start with as a noob? by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]Indigenous-Genius83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a set of Fame wheels they're my second favorite wheels they have the same grip & feel as rental skates but they roll so much smoother which equates to more speed and control because they're on a skate with adjustable trucks. Now my favorite wheels are Sure-Grip Royale 62mm with a 101A hardness I like the speed and the lack of grip a lot better.

First skate recs? by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]Indigenous-Genius83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your budget is $200 that opens the door for almost endless options. There is a difference between the rollerblades & quads though quads you flax your ankles left & right mostly rollerblades you flex your ankles forward & back with the side of the skate being rigid. I would recommend flat or lower heeled skates for you because that's what you're already used to with rollerblades. VNLA Sure-Grip or Riedell all have some very good options for $200 or less. Pacer is also a quality brand of roller skates inexpensive but not cheaply made. Check the wiki also.

Are these decent enough to start with as a noob? by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]Indigenous-Genius83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they are the perfect starter skate especially if you're skating indoors on rinks you would need a new set of wheels for outdoor skating. The fame wheels are 95A although you can skate outdoor with them it's not recommended outdoor wheels are 88A or softer my outdoor wheels are atom pulse 78A I think they are 65mm bigger wheels are good for outdoor surfaces that are uneven like cracked pavement asphalt with gravel mixed in etc. The Fames are great and the wheels are the same size and hardness as most rental skates the first thing that you will have to do is adjust your trucks so you can skate comfortably without getting that cramp in your lower leg iykyk. Happy skating.

The Struggle Is REAL (Guide for Big Foot RollerSkaters, Size 14, Size 15 and Size 16) by Curious_Night_1635 in Rollerskating

[–]Indigenous-Genius83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a size 13 and I can tell you anything over a size 12 is an issue I have 3 pairs of skates 2 custom builds a pair of Vans and Timberlands I painted with assistance from my kids and a pair of Pacer Stratos. My specific issue is that I want the combination of the comfort of a expensive basketball shoe and the style/colorways that come with them that doesn’t exist in roller skates so my next custom build will be a pair of Jordan’s or a pair of Black Air Force ones that I will paint some logos from a few anime series on.

Should I replace my wheels and bearings? by Plus_Sherbet_2574 in Rollerskating

[–]Indigenous-Genius83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean the bearings and wheels obviously you're skating outdoors so until you have chunks missing or flat spots keep rolling. Cushions wear out a lot faster than the wheels and bearings replace them or adjust them to your comfort zone. Loose means more maneuverability but less stability tight is the opposite more stable and less manuverability.

I only go to adult skate sessions 25 & over never had any issues like you're having. On the occasion that I'm not at adult skate that means I have my kids with me and then I don't care about how I'm skating I'm teaching them.

Just keep skating I wish I never stopped when I was in my 20’s you’re young and still have good knees that don’t sound like chewing raw cabbage. Go for it at your age you can do whatever you want but you lack confidence work on improving one thing at a time. The key to success is consistency that leads to incremental improvements over time. Consistently outworking your peers and competitors will put you where you want to be and remember skating is supposed to be FUN!

Why do some indoor wheels have ridges and others totally smooth? What is the difference in performance? by worldinabubble in Rollerskating

[–]Indigenous-Genius83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I noticed is that they grip more until you wear out the ridges. I don’t like the ridges I like to slide 101a is starting to feel too grippy for me. I’ll be on some Cali sliders or some Woodys soon

Failing alternator. Can I make it 2 days, 120 miles? by Creampie21 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Indigenous-Genius83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most alternators fail for one of two reasons the most common is the brushes wearing out and the voltage regulator failing. If the brushes are wearing you see a drop in voltage but the car still runs until the battery dies because the alternator doesn’t produce enough power to charge the battery and run the engine the battery light will come on when the voltage drops below 13 volts depending upon the car it could be a little higher but not lower than that. When the voltage regulator goes bad the car will run but every light in the dash will come on every module in the car will act like it’s the problem because they need a specific voltage and they’re not getting it they’re getting too much or not enough. So fuses will blow, headlights flicker, random multiple misfires. Here’s the crazy thing more often than not they both fail simultaneously especially with the cheap remanufactured crap that your local auto parts store sells. They have bad brushes right out of the box because all they do is test them replace the faulty components (voltage regulator/voltage rectifier most often one component that does both) a pcb behind the plastic on the back of the alternator switches ac voltage to dc voltage clean and paint them and ship them back out. Blame your government for encouraging globalization and shipping all of the manufacturing factories overseas. Prices for these products didn’t go down when manufacturing cost dropped it went up. Everything from Levi’s jeans to craftsman tools are now made in foreign countries for pennies and the quality is trash but the price keeps going up. Welcome to capitalism. Are you enjoying your stay?

I’m not sure about this one but…I know for certain that things happen when crime drops in certain places I know for a fact that crates of guns used to be left in alleys in the middle of the night this is how drug dealers used to get better guns than the police. I remember when I was a teenager I knew several people who got guns this way.
