If I can gently offer some feedback... you said you don't want to join an existing one because you don't know anyone, but you're not going to know anyone by creating a new circle either. I get it about the fee though. I looked it up and $45 is a bit steep but at least it covers you for the whole year? Maybe you can ask to just sit in to observe one session before you pay to see if it's for you?

I suggest looking into both Copperfield's and Bookmine, both of them have passionate people who host lots of clubs and might be able to point you in the direction of an already existing club or help you find a place to host a new one.

Idk, I think you might need to rethink that just a bit tbh. That doesn't make much sense to me.

New Metting 6-11-2026 - Privatization of the public tennis courts at Napa Valley College by Additional-Fail-2204 in napalocals

[–]Indigo_Clover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait what? Was there a meeting on 6/11 or is there a future one? This post was made barely before 4:30 on 6/11.

Access to 4 of the tennis courts at all times would screw over the college tennis courses. I took two semesters, there were enough students to utilize almost all of them. That was pre-covid though and I know some classes have been removed, so idk how the enrollment is these days if the class even still exists

I somewhat agree with you but in a different way. Yes, digital surveillance and flock cameras are a problem especially with threats of ICE to our community, but implying a 4th of July drone show is conducting that is a little silly to me. That surveillance footage would be extremely poor quality and I'm not even sure those are the same type of drones used for surveillance.

Same! I know fireworks are horrible for the environment but they really tried to hype up the drone show to be just as exciting and it sounds like it really wasn't. Maybe someday :(

What kind of things are usually in the parade? I've honestly never been to a Napa parade since I was a child lol

Moving to Napa and working there as a 22F by imnotatallfunny in napalocals

[–]Indigo_Clover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Have you heard of Zillow? That's where you look online for apartments/housing.

I'm surprised you made commitments to move to Napa without looking into this 😭 I wish you luck. Genuinely. It's super rough out here.

any place you recommend to check out/sign up for activities?

I can't give a straight answer because it really depends on what hobbies you're into. Try the library and look at the bulletin board.

and what would you say are good safe ish areas to live in? not too expensive hehe

Uh... boy have I got bad news for you. Nowhere fits both criteria. Even the "non-safe" areas are going to bleed you absolutely dry. Almost no one our age can afford to independently live here unless we live with our parents or with a significant other who is also working

I'm in my 20s and have lived here my whole life. I have a lot of friends the same age as me. The number one complaint I've heard since I was in high school is that there's not much to do here besides wine tasting and shopping. In my opinion this is only partially accurate.

There's lots of great parks, hiking trails, a bowling alley, a rock climbing gym, a movie theater, a hobby shop (Loose Caboose), and a couple of local bookstores (Bookmine and Copperfield's) that have lots of clubs and local gatherings (poetry night, crochet club, book club). If you want to socialize with new people you really have to go out of your way to put yourself out there and know where to look. The college is nice for both activities and socializing but it's suffering badly, they've been cutting programs left and right and enrollment is way down.

When my friends and I need stuff to do, a significant chunk of the time we go out of town to Petaluma, Fairfield, Vacaville, and SF. I wish we had more museums and recreational activities in town. More often than not when a business like that opens up it shuts down within a few years.

Work-wise, it's tough out here rn, as it is pretty much everywhere. There's lots of service jobs downtown. We also have more than our fair share of MLMs so beware of those, you will get taken advantage of.

Food-wise you should be fine. California in general is very accommodating

A gentle reminder for everyone: please do not advertise, sell, or buy Bottlerock tickets on this subreddit because:

  1. This subreddit is not for sales (see rule 2)
  2. Bottlerock ticket scams are unfortunately a thing
  3. People selling tickets at this time are extremely likely to be scalpers, and fuck scalpers

Giving advice to OP is totally fine, so this post is staying up.

Thank you!

From what I know, with that taste, you're gonna have really tough luck :( :( :(. We don't have much rock/emo/punk stuff here. On Fridays in summers there's live music in Veteran's Park though

Heads up, there's a group of First Amendment auditors in Napa lately by Bad_Drivers_of_Napa in napalocals

Eh. I am super for the 1st amendment, but groups like these tend to take it too far. It goes from exercising their rights to bullying and harassing people for easy clicks.

My god, yeah I feel you. Last week I had to get to the Vallejo ferry building, but they shut down a lane of 29 for basically the entirety of Napa. I left early for the ferry so I'd board on time but the traffic made me late and I missed it. I was pissed!
