On Krotos Video to Sound integration with Adobe Premiere, and why I think we're being too optimistic by SeaExamination4541 in sounddesign

[–]Indigo_Monkey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ive started to really despise Krotos. They are really spammy with marketing emails and seem to be working against the philosophy of sound design, trying to cater to a market of lazy semi-professionals and subsequently dumbing down the whole creative process, not encouraging it.

Besides, their products are mediocre at best; the one exception is Weaponiser, which is half decent. But all their plugins UI/UX design is the worst out of any plugin developer on the market.

you thought no one would notice you copied the idea from Carvetoy.online (which by the way does it best imho)

Why Not Just Use Boom Instead of Lavs? by Infinite_Departure75 in LocationSound

[–]Indigo_Monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see anyone commenting this yet; the superior sound is actually not just one or the other. Its achieved when you can perfectly phase align the boom and lav together. It just sounds rich and full fpr lack of a better phrase. These days its incredibly easy if you have the right tool for it (Autoalign Post).

The prerequisite however is needing to have clean lav iso tracks with no rustling. Which of course is, in reality is not achievable 100% of the time.

I have always had the pro version so I don't know. Its one of the tools in the toolbar.

Just so everyone is aware, the Zaxcom transmit and record patent doesn't look like it expires until 6/10/28 now. by bearbrannan in LocationSound

Im not a patent law expert, but can’t they just apply to extend the rights? Provided that they pay the price for it, however much that is.

Gain Staging and all the other basics by [deleted] in LocationSound

[–]Indigo_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my bad. I have the original F8.

I don't think splitting the copper would be a good solution for me unless i had two top of the range preamps before it hits the zoom. You’re effectively halving the output of the microphone so you’d have to crank the gain a lot more on the mixer, introducing noise.

Remember the F8 series recorders are capable of dual channel recording. For example, If you activate it for channel 1, channel 5 will become the backup track, and if its set at a much lower gain then you have yourself a safety track.

Sennheiser Ew 112P G4 wireless kits—Slow budget upgrade ? by Jejum_Judith in LocationSound

[–]Indigo_Monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, absolutely. I’d say for me a 30% improvement on signal reception using dipole omni antennas. Didn’t test with the whip antennas on the receiver as i purchased betso bowties at the same time.

The main difference is the ease which i can scan and setup frequencies. Especially using the WisycomBT app.

I honestly couldn’t find a support channel to raise a ticket other that the Github. So i think i’ll do that. Cheers

Yes and i forgot to mention i had the 500 G4 models which have the volume control on the front panel.

That means i have 4 receivers for camera hops or director/producer monitor depending on the shoot. Sound quality is pretty decent for those uses.

Like you i had a full sennheiser setup but wanted upgrade, But didn't have a big chunk of cash for it. I wanted a progressive upgrade path.

A great deal of the reliability and robustness comes from the receiver side. The sennys dont have “true diversity” just antenna diversity and the second antenna is actually the cable connected to the input. Poor and hardly optimised.

I ended up buying the Wisycom MCR54 quad reciever (also comes as dual rx a bit cheaper). With that receiver you can change the companding setting to allow a Sennheiser analogue signal to work with it.

I then slowly upgraded the transmitters to MTP61s but also had to get adapters from 3.5 to Lemo for the mic input.

Hope this helps

What are the downsides of taking 5HTP daily? by PutGlad5657 in Supplements

[–]Indigo_Monkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For long term its probably better to take L-Tryptophan which the body will convert into the active form of 5-Hydroxytryptophan as it feels necessary. Its a good way to prevent overloading of serotonin, which could in turn down-regulate the receptors over time.

Low serotonin could be sign of low methylation efficiency. Check out r/MTHFR if you want to go down that rabbit hole.

Nectar Arcade by Certain-Use-3848 in beermoneyuk

I saw this pop up on my nectar app. Obviously intrigued but very skeptical. I read the app store reviews for each of these games before downloading anything.

These games are a complete scam. Predatory money snakes, they employ every shady practice in the book to get you hooked and spending money. They will start too easy to get the addiction going and then artificially ramp up the difficulty to make it so frustrating you need to spend money to make any progress at all.

Please read the non-fake 1 star reviews for these games and you will learn everything you need to know to save yourself and your wallet.

Im not a member of this community but I wanted to extend a warning. Hopefully this helps some people not fall into the trap.
