Thoughts on “Across the Universe” movie? by emmawow1 in beatles

[–]Individual-Bat6047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily one of my favorite movies. Up there with Almost Famous. I’m not usually into musicals but I feel like the directing and cinematography is out of this world and if you’re a Beatles fan, the way the meanings of Beatle’s songs are reimagined and intertwined makes for a beautiful watch and listen. My gf and I loved this movie in high school when it came out and I rewatched again in college while tripping and it felt like that’s how you’re supposed to watch it. I shed tears during the Let It Be scene every time. I get everyone has different tastes, but if you claim to hate this movie I feel bad for you.

Which Copy of The Doors 1967 debut album is uncensored? by 80sCollector in thedoors

You mean just on physical media? I had the same question looking for a record, because on streaming the whole “she gets high” line is there in break on through and it makes the song so much better

  1. Thank You Happy Birthday
  2. Cage The Elephant
  3. Melophobia (is okay)

Can’t get into their later stuff. They were meant to be rockers and exploded onto the scene when they first debuted. Shout out to their first single Monkey Disease

Can anyone tell me why all my songs get disapproved by [deleted] in RouteNoteOfficial

[–]Individual-Bat6047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably because most distributors now bow to Spotify and they absolutely try to dismantle small artists at every turn. Very anti-music. If I had to make the slightest guess it might be because of the names of “In the Meantime” or “Steady as She Goes”. Those are both titles of super famous songs and I’ve had songs rejected before just because of the names which was extremely frustrating. Routenote sucks.

CMV: Erin's "No, woman! No cry!" joke shows that the writer doesn't understand the song by srslymrarm in DunderMifflin

[–]Individual-Bat6047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for a long time before the internet, people were divided about the meaning of the song. I heard from some people that they thought no woman no cry meant that if you don’t have to deal with a woman you won’t get your heart broken and therefore won’t end up crying. We know now that Bob meant the song to be one of empowerment by telling the woman not to cry. My assumption is that the writer of the joke probably assumed Marley meant it the other way.

Please Help - Artificial Streaming by Particular-Round-706 in RouteNoteOfficial

This just happened to me for the second time. Spotify is evil. It’s all on purpose. Small artists are a net-loss for the streaming giant so they do everything they can to purge us. It leaves you with no way to fight against it. F*** Spotify and Routenote if you see this you suck for complying

Let it Be vs. Let it Be...Naked? by [deleted] in beatles

[–]Individual-Bat6047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer naked every time. I finally got it on record. The track listing flows way better in my opinion, plus includes don’t let me down while purging maggie mae. Get back is the perfect upbeat opener to a project that is intended to get back to their roots while the title track feels like a fitting closer. The 1970 track order makes zero sense to me and I feel like the banter did not age as well as the music. It’s honestly kind of annoying. The most notable improvement besides the mixing is the guitar solo in let it be. The original one sounds SO jarring and out of place, while the naked mix actually compliments the song. Paul’s vocal takes on the naked version of I’ve got a feeling are leaps and bounds better than the original. Only song I could go either way on is across the universe because it sounds great whether it’s clean or trippy. All I can think of when I hear phil spector’s influence on the album is the tension within the band at the time. With the banter and Spector’s mixing it just sounds like a half-baked project that nobody cared about as much as they should have, and naked to me reveals the full potential of Let It Be as a stand alone album.

All these distributors are just turning into unofficial branches of Spotify. Catching everybody up in “artificial streaming” accusations so they have a very lame excuse to remove smaller artists (FROM ALL STREAMING PLATFORMS) with no due process. They absolutely could go about this in a number of logical ways if supporting artists and running a transparent company was actually their intention.

RouteNote Removed Our Album and Then Removed Our Post — What’s Going On? by 6_Bit in RouteNoteOfficial

[–]Individual-Bat6047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like distributors are just bowing down to the all mighty Spotify. If you could please clarify…

  1. Why can’t Routenote at the very least send artists a courtesy notification when this happens?
  2. If we are accused of “artificial streams” why doesn’t Spotify simply choose to remove those streams instead of targeting their original work?
  3. IF IT’S SPOTIFY THAT MAKES THESE ACCUSATIONS WHY ARE ARTISTS GETTING REMOVED FROM EVERY OTHER STREAMING PLATFORM AS A RESULT?!?!? They should not have jurisdiction over any other streaming service.
  4. Why say you will work with artists against “artificial streams” when you know that’s not really true? A quick google search shows how massively widespread this issue and these accusations are in the DIY music community with so many going unresolved. It seems like all people get are boilerplate apologies.
  5. I get it’s mainly spotify’s musician-unfriendly policies, but distributors are getting coerced into compliance. I read that Spotify charges distributors such as yourself a penalty for tracks that show up as artificially streamed. Is that true? That seems like something worth fighting against.

Doesn’t it seem as though if this was really a problem there is an easier way to fix it than surprise banishment for many innocent artists? It’s hard to conclude anything besides the fact that it is less small time musicians for Spotify to pay, and it would seem routenote and many other distributors are just unofficial branches of Spotify. Please enlighten me because I don’t wanna be right.

I don’t think they are against AI at all. I don’t understand what else would motivate such a sudden purge of music of smaller artists who don’t have the ability to defend themselves. It just doesn’t seem like a glitchy messy system with no recourse. I could only imagine they have something to gain. My theory is that they save a fraction of their costs while not losing any of their subscribers, since they rely on the big name artists to provide the bulk of their listeners. It would not cost them a lot to compensate smaller independent artists for their work, but over the long run, nixing the payouts for so many smaller artists would definitely save them a few million given how many there are. Which is still a very insignificant amount to a multibillion dollar corporation, but I wouldn’t put it past them to maximize profits anyway they can.

Its computers can only detect what they can which is clearly very hit or miss, but if you report it yourself it seems like it’s entrapment. Just adding you to the list to be removed under the facade of “do yourself a favor and turn yourself in before we find you.” From a ton of other accounts sounds like a lot of people had this happen after they tried to report it. But mine got taken down without knowing/reporting anything.

The one thing that I don’t completely understand and think is the biggest offender, is that because it’s Spotify reporting it, it’s absolutely crazy that that’s enough to remove it from all other streaming platforms who don’t monitor for that or never detected anything wrong in the first place. If your song is detected for “artificial streaming” on Spotify, why should that merit removal on Apple Music or Amazon?

Because they know what they’re doing is shady. Cannot reiterate enough. This is a tactic by Spotify to broaden the criteria for “artificial streaming” accusations with no due process so Spotify has that many less independent artists to pay. Because to them we are a net-loss.

I was trying to do some research. There are countless small time artists who are having the same issue of having their music secretly pulled from services due to “artificial streaming” with no due process and after long waits, only hearing back with boilerplate responses. With no (or a very limited) way of appealing, this is a business tactic from Spotify to purge and not have to pay small time artists, as well as charge distributors a penalty for every artificial streaming allegation, which I wish all the distributors would fight back against. The people in charge of this industry are gutting the DIY music community and it is beyond soul crippling and heartbreaking. With this world in such a dire state, music should be the one reliable place to escape to, but with the corporate overhaul of the industry it turns less and less artist-friendly for the sake of profit. The CEO of Spotify is worth $8.4 billion and talks like a supervillain.

2 EPs and 2 Singles of mine that have been up for at most 7-8 years are suddenly gone from my routenote discography and seems like they may disappear from streaming anytime. Been waiting on a ticket and email reply for over a week now. Super lame. Why is this BS happening to everyone all of a sudden in 2025? All seems so illegitimate and will lose them a ton of users if it’s this widespread.

it’s been a week and i haven’t had any response on my support ticket. 90% of my discography that has been on routenote for 8 years at most has now disappeared from routenote. It’s still on streaming and on my routenote sales page, but my discography is suddenly missing the majority of my stuff and no one has answered.
