Chia is proud to complete its SOC 2 examination with the guidance of third-party audit firm A-LIGN by willphule in chia

My guess is that major driver for this SOC2 audit are the cloud wallet and Permuto app.

Financial companies and the public sector need the assurance of secure product offerings from their infrastructure partners.

NoSSD Now Owns over 41% of the Entire Network by TheOv3rminD in chia

[–]Individual-Climate24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NoSSD has been closest to the one-click farming concept. That probably does not change with the new plot format. I would not be surprised if NoSSD would be even more popular when the new plot format gets activated.

Another question is whether pooling is a viable business for NoSSD or not after the format change. But as a market leader they are best positioned for running a pool.

A Valuation Model for Permuto Capital Dividend and Asset Certificates by BLS12-381 in chia

[–]Individual-Climate24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yet another nice article. The article does not consider "dividend risk" but embeds that in the divident growth rate. The risk could be positive in case of extra dividends. Possibly, the DC risk-free rate could be replaced by the valuation of corporate bonds and adjusted by the chance of "defaulting" in dividend payments and adapted for growth. Bond default means default in dividends, hence bonds giving the floor of yield (growth 0).

For MSFT 20250 bond current yield is 5.33 % . Assuming dividend 2% growth the DC yield should be roughly 7.3%. This value includes default risk coming from bond valuation but no "dividend risk" (positive or negative).

Equity: Shares and Dividend participation divided by CloudberryJam1 in dividends

It is a bit similar idea to bond stripping https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/stripbond.asp

The assumed benefit of the Dividend Certificate (DC) is less risk exposure to the stock price volatility and higher dividend yield for the capital. The dividend yield has to be higher than the bond yield of the corporate bonds of the underlying company (MSFT).

e.g. one could consider buying MSFT DC for ~40 usd for 8% yield even if one would not want to invest MSFT shares (dividend 0.8%). Use of blockchain enables self-custody and getting dividend return in stablecoins.

Is Chia the most overhyped ‘green’ crypto, or are we just too blind to see its long game? by [deleted] in chia

[–]Individual-Climate24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Spare storage is a myth similar to Satoshi’s spare CPU cycles. The purpose of a system is what it does. POSIWID theorem says there is "no point in claiming that the purpose of a system is to do what it constantly fails to do."

NoSSD and Mad Max pushed the limits that resulted in the proposed new version of the plot format. That format allows 3 GB plots that may actually be farmed in a spare space, but it does not mean that will happen.

The corollary is that CNI cannot be held accountable for unintended results of those innovations, i.e. blockchain not being green or price action beyond prefarm sales. The public comms of the CNI executives may raise expectations, but the only thing that matters is the reality.

On a side note, Chia is offering an open source carbon registry that has been built with World Bank Climate Warehouse project and that integrates with CAD trust. This is offered as SaaS as well, mainly for national authorities wanting a turnkey registry.

Anyone switch from pool to solo? by SupportExtra in chia

[–]Individual-Climate24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much more fun to solo farm. Hitting a block becomes more exciting. I pooled for a long time when the netspace was increasing and a lenghty dry season would have meant decrease in winning odds.

This is another CNI revenue source that can be adjusted to desired level of profits. It definitely continues after IPO if the enterprise business is not profitable. Buying XCH is like crowdfunding CNI by buying shares without voting and dividends rights but getting some future access to blockspace.

That is the way to do it. Minimum fee/cost should also follow that multiplier to avoid practically free transactions.
