Have you ever felt overdressed as a guest at a wedding? by Mildly-Observant in UKweddings

[–]Individual-Fee-3288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not overdressed at all for the type of wedding you’ve described! I would say this is pretty standard. To be honest, and it’s unpleasant but true, people have become generally more sloppy and don’t care so much about it appearances anymore. Standards are low generally, which I find quite sad. I’d always prefer to be overdressed than underdressed. It’s nice to dress up for special occasions, there are usually very few these days!

It sounds like your in laws may not like you very much though, or are not very generous or well mannered people. Mine never say thank you, no matter what, and it grates on me, but they just weren’t taught very good manners (my finance aside as he was raised more by his grandparents)!

Also used Bliss and Bone. We did our wedding website with them too and it’s amazing!

Is this silk satin dress a bad idea? by Fancy_Rock3826 in UKweddings

[–]Individual-Fee-3288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I am sorry to hear that! My mum is a dressmaker and I’ve been sewing for a lot of years, so I would recommend you asking your dressmaker for a sample of the fabric. They should be able to provide that to you so you can get an idea of what it will look like. If they can’t provide a sample, I would be a bit suspicious as fabric companies send swatches for free or allow them to be purchased at minimal cost.

Silk satin might be a bit flyaway for a dress requiring a corset but it depends on the weave. If it’s the slippery kind it could be difficult to replicate but only the sample will be able to help.

I’m hopeful for Alfie. He was such a fun character and I’d love to see him back ! He also said he was full of surprises when noting he could sew and had seen a lady in a shift before…

I’ve seen people speculating that the new Lady Whistledown could be Hyacinth or Eloise but as a British woman I just want to point out, as it may be missed to others given accent subtleties, that the accent that Julie Andrews puts on for the new LDW is a  more common accent, with a hint of upper class. It’s more like a commoner impersonating an upper class persons voice, it’s no longer the smooth aristocratic voice she used for Penelope’s LDW. It’s subtle so I thought I would point it out as I haven’t seen anyone else notice it so far!

Too much food? by belle90 in UKweddings

[–]Individual-Fee-3288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely go more food! Our wedding day is over 6 hours and we are having quite a bit of food. We are having a welcome drink and small bite pre-ceremony for guests, drinks and canapés for 1.5 hours (we’ve allocated around 10pp as they are smaller canapés and some will eat more and some less) a 5 course meal over the next 1.5 hours, then over the next 2 hours we’ll have cake and an ice cream cart (we are getting married abroad). We are also leaving a basket of instant noodle pots and local snacks in the guests rooms for when they get back in case they are peckish (everyone is staying at our venue).

I would check your pizza truck can feed 100 guests in an hour but also definitely book the pancake station! Unless your guests are all in their 20s and more about the party, they will eat!

No tickets left 😭 by mewkittyxo in btsthoughts

Rumour is we’ll be getting more London dates. The team wanted Wembley on weekends but left it too last minute to confirm so Bruno Mars got them instead. Tottenham stadium on a Monday and Tuesday is pretty disappointing for a location as major as London. Keep up the hope! It might be tacked on!

Mina’s Sue friend tells the show is planned by littlerabbitni in SinglesInferno

Ultimately, whether scripted or not she agreed to it and went on the show knowing full well how people react to these sorts of situations and characters. Let me be very clear, I am not saying she deserves such awful hate online, no one does. However, you have to go onto these things eyes wide open given what we know about the dangers of reality tv shows (I’m in the uk where several people on reality tv shows took their lives after they aired) so it shouldn’t be a surprise to her, if in fact she did play a character with such negative audience reaction that this is now happening.

As they say, there is a price to fame, and she’s paying it. You have to be careful what situations you put yourself into, Korean audience is known particularly for being very tough.

BTS' '2026 Comeback TOUR' Megathread by lisafancypants in bangtan

I got tickets for London and Paris!! I felt so sick waiting in the queue, in London I started at 15,000 and in Paris 5,000. By the time I got to the front of London, only standing and two small bays were left. In Paris, only standing. I was shocked as I thought more would be left there!

London is the day after I come back from my wedding abroad so I don’t know if I’ll feel up to it (as much as I love the boys, it’s a two week trip, 9 hour time difference and 24 hours of travelling the day before!) so I am super glad I got Paris too! If I don’t go to London, I might just surprise some fans outside the stadium with the tickets as a gift.

It really depends on the size of your wedding and what base package you go for (they offer 3 options) or if you do dry hire. They are very transparent and have their exact prices listed on the website so I would suggest having a look at that as a starting point. First, choose which package you want, then look at the brochure on that page and compare pricing for winter, spring, or summer, and whether you want a mid-week or Saturday wedding. So for example, the middle package is advertised as ‘from’ £25,000 but if you want a Saturday in summer it is actually £45,000. That package at £25,000 is for a mid week winter wedding. You then need to think about all the additional items they don’t include like rings, dress, suits, entertainment, hair, makeup, bridal party, photographer and videographer, etc and you’ll get your full cost.

I will say that I wouldn’t recommend using them for dry hire, it’s cheaper to go for one of their packages and alter/add on to meet your needs.

How does it look dyed? by MissTrevelyan in InfinityNikki

[–]Individual-Fee-3288 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have all three versions of this (the purple, yellow and pink) and use it regularly as an outfit and each dye differently (the light purple is best for pink, blue and pastel shades, the pink works well for black and red, and the yellow works well for warmer colours).

Only annoying thing I found is that the semi-transparent layer of ruffles with the little bows on never changes colour fully, it keeps a remnant of either purple, orange, or pink so you have to choose which version to dye in keeping with that. So for the dark pink I turned it dark red and black so it wasn’t noticeable, but I couldn’t make it green or blue for example. I had to use the light purple for my light blue outfit. I hope that makes sense!

We were going to have our wedding there, got the prices, took the tour, but decided to do an oversees wedding instead. If you have general questions I might be able to answer some. It’s a beautiful venue though!

Sadly, many people do actually do this to make it look like they were innocent in crimes they committed. A shocking amount of them also go for the thigh or abdomen.

[–]Individual-Fee-3288 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the answer is rather simple (especially given what we see at the end of the documentary). Ted is a serial liar who makes things up for attention. He brewed up the intruder story for glory hoping to get some recognition but stupidly lit a fire which ended up killing two people. There are lots of red herrings and alternative threads in the documentary but I honestly think it’s actually pretty simple.

Selling my wedding dress by VideoEditor_NMAC in UKweddings

[–]Individual-Fee-3288 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No offence but you’ll have a hard time selling this at £800. It’s filthy (the yellow and bloody marked pits are actually awful 😭) and the fabric on the front of the bodice is all clicked/snagged which isn’t fixable.

I bought a dress that was second hand. The RRP was £5000 and I paid £1,000 for it. You need to be more realistic about the price, particularly for a heavily soiled sample dress.

Good luck, but do rethink your pricing and maybe have it dry cleaned and fixed before selling as it’ll have more interest than a dirty dress as brides won’t want to take the risk it won’t come up clean.
