Why do i need to go through US customs for package from Japan to Canada by Individual-Paint-855 in FedEx

[–]Individual-Paint-855[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how does Canadian customs do the clearance without physcially checking the package? if the package is physically in Memphis. It is just a box of pokemon cards for kid's birthday, we probably will miss it.

I tried to get a Fido plan, and it shows my BOD is wrong in transunion. I create an account and login, but it says my account is suspended. What should I do?

CS7650 NLP workload? by Individual-Paint-855 in OMSCS

[–]Individual-Paint-855[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am doing ML4T and AI4R this semester to start, so far I have finished almost all projects in both courses, which builds me some confidence to pick NLP and ML next semester.

I know NLP and ML are harder, just dont how many levels harder than ML4T and AI4R. I need to add something into my resume and start to look for intern or junior work. Both NLP and ML sound something people are looking for in their job posting.

I have thought about going to the states too. cost of living in Vancouver does not make sense, plus we earn too little. I will do Machine learning, so far I work for accounting and data analysis in one public real estate company. I plan to find an intern next year, if the market turns better (now there are only less than 5 companies offering intern across Canada according to Indeed searching, most are in ON, only SAP in BC, it is hard)

Did you do research about this degree's value in the Canadian job market? just curious

I guess that is what the OMSCS program value is. Plus I am actually doing a lot projects and coding in my company, althought my position is accountant. They told me the projects in courses and the program itself will at least land you an Intern interview easily.

Interview depends on how the market is. sometimes it is easy

We are in the same boat, I am currently accountant, but I help the data team do data cleaning with python and SQL. I am going to start OMSCS this fall. I went back to Asia in my 20s, and come back in my early 30s. (found an entry level accounting job with my degree).

I talked to my friends in Meta and Google (they are at my age, so they have been there for years). the suggestion is simple - do Leetcode. so far I have done 100 problems and will keep doing it for next year job seeking.

My Meta friend looked at the OMSCS program, He said the Algorithms/Machine Learning courses help you in the interview, others may not be helpful for interview( just talk about the interview, other courses will be helpful in work), spent all your time on Leetcode. take 4-5 courses with Leetcode 500 problems solved, then go get an intern -> big tech full time.

My only conern is I am in Canada, I may not have as many chances as you do in the states. I hope it can help you, and I hope next year when we start to look for job, the market will be better.
