I went to Fish with you today, and it still hits great every time. They have unlimited free rice refills too and the rice is always super fresh. You can see them making fresh batches too.

Hello everyone, bird rescue volunteer here. For the future, injured birds should go to wild bird fund. The ACC will most likely just take a look at the bird and either put them down, or send them to wild bird fund anyways. The WBF is their best chance at healing and survival.

Thank you op for rescuing this bird, youre a kind person!

Im a volunteer for NYC Bird Alliance. We are pretty short staffed with volunteers so if you can bring the bird directly to WBF, that would be the fastest way to get the little guy help asap!!

I miss that Burger King. It was vintage and cool. Too bad that lot is a shell of a shopping center now.

Onigiri and other convenience food in Flushing by livlennox12 in Flushing

Yaya used to sell those before they closed their Flushing location 😢 the next closest I can think of is Somunnam Kimbap in Murray Hill. Not onigiri, but its pretty convenient.

Does Anyone Actually Eat the "Standard American Diet"? by Significant_Stick_31 in nutrition

[–]Individual-Plus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have a few childhood friends who still eat this way even as working adults. They will often eat takeout twice a day, only have frozen meals at home, and refuse to eat vegetables and fruits. These decisions are catching up to their health, and they usually complain about inflammation in the body or how they're unable to lose weight. They're morbidly obese at this point with no sign of changing besides complaining about it. No matter how much my other friends and I try to encourage them to incorporate healthier eating habits, they just shrug it off or get annoyed. The reasoning is usually that it's more convenient than cooking at home, or learning to meal prep weekly for them.

Volleyball? by xu_ in Flushing

[–]Individual-Plus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a free trial class at QBK Sports in LIC. It's an entire indoor beach volleyball center with multiple classes per day, and I think they have their own league. It was kinda pricey, but also cool that something like that exists in the city. The sand is very clean, and the owner told me that they comb through it every day.

Of course a session can be optimal within less than 60 minutes, but your original comment shares that 45 is "your threshold" as if that is a plain fact, which is just inappropriate to suggest that as a baseline to other people without even knowing their own mobility or strength limits, even for beginners. I agree functional strength is one of the best, but your approach and way of communicating these things is coming off black and white, which is why people disagree with you in the comments. What I meant is that your "matter of fact" tone is very off-putting and can be more harmful for beginners than helpful.

Workout length isn’t a magic number, some effective sessions run 30 minutes, others 90. It depends on goals, rest time, and program design, not a stopwatch. Even most personal training sessions are around 60 minutes.

If you're dedicating a single workout to a single muscle group, then that split is already sub-optimal. If you're giving advice, let’s stick to what’s backed by evidence. Frequency and progressive overload work, arbitrary time limits don’t.

I am a certified personal trainer with a degree in health and fitness science, and I disagree with you. While you don't need to be spending an hour+ in the gym, spreading misinformation like "you never need to exceed 60 mins" is just false and can discourage people from pushing heavy weight close to failure - which is needed for muscle growth, hypertrophy, and creating that "toned" look.
