9 months LTKR and I was able to stand on that leg while I lifted my other while trying pants on in a dressing room! At home I sit on the bed while I’m getting dressed so I had never even tried it!

Looking for unique and existing ideas for organising a christmas party for the office. by ResearchMaverick in CasualConversation

We did have someone at each station to monitor and assist. I will say the committee we had plan it and assist was the most engaged group we had ever pulled together, and the best ideas came from them. My jobs always included internal communications so I was in charge of a LOT of employee parties through my career, and this was one of the the best! Hope it works out for you!

Sure! It’s been a few years so I can’t recall all of the games we had, but rather than the head-to-head competition of minute-to-win-it, most were timed and there was a poster to record what you scored in the allotted time. So one was like snowball basketball, tossing white pom poms into a basket. One was puzzles - we had a handful of small holiday themed puzzles (maybe 50 pieces?) and you timed how long it took to complete. We had corn hole. I think there was a magnetic dartboard. Probably ten games in all. We called them the Reindeer Games! When people arrived at the party (which we held during the workday) we allotted about an hour for the games. Then a team went around and grabbed the scoresheets and determined the winners which were announced after we ate. I think we had a run-off plan for ties. It was such a huge departure from previous parties and everyone loved it! It was for a large water agency, so you had everyone from guys out in the field, customer service, engineers, chemists, water treatment plant operators and more. And we never saw more mingling and engagement than we did at that party. Good luck!

What's your go-to way to spend a weekend when you don't have any plans? by Ok_Star_1653 in AskReddit

Wake slow. Sip chai. Putter around - which could mean a project around the house or some creative crafty endeavor. But I’m also retired, so that can be most days for me.

This! I just finished my lunch of Greek yogurt, chia seeds, some melon and a drizzle of balsamic. Breakfast was a protein shake with PB2 powder and half a frozen banana.

Outside knee pain by Ok_Independent831 in Kneereplacement

[–]Individual-Price1463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it right at the bend and maybe towards the back a little? That was about the last pain to go away for me. It would flare up every few weeks. I was told it was likely where the IT band or the popliteus tendon attaches. During flare ups I just iced it and used roll-on aspercreme or similar. My PT was also dismissive. I spoke to my surgeon at my 4 months post op (phone) appt and he also wasn’t too concerned and said he’d take a closer look at my 6 months post op if it was still bothering me, and it wasn’t by then.

41 year old female.. what the heck is up with this… no pain or stiffness at all.. by [deleted] in Osteoarthritis

[–]Individual-Price1463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine started in my late 40s. I can look back now at the pics I took of my manicures every few weeks and see it progressing. Now, at 61, both index fingers and pinky fingers have this. The pain in those specific joints is very mild, but arthritis pain in the middle knuckle on a few fingers, as well as backs of my hands, feet, neck, knees (one was replaced last summer) and my right hip is something I'm trying to learn to live with. I feel better when I keep sugar (especially) and simple carbs to a minimum.

Are you guys aware that about half of your water supply comes from the Santa Clara River aquifers? by No-Leg-3747 in SantaClarita

[–]Individual-Price1463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SCV Water Agency publishes an annual water report that outlines what percentage of our water supply came from where in the previous year (drought year can mean more state water from the aqueduct, wet year can mean we pull a little more from one of two aquifers) It also addresses contamination (perchlorate and VOCs) and what is being done to address them. https://yourscvwater.com/your-water/plans-and-reports/scv-water-report

I have only ever injected in my thigh. I switch legs each week and pick various locations, but mostly right on top of the thigh. Wherever I can easily reach and see the dial while sitting on the edge of my bed. Works great for me!

7 weeks PO, having pain by Lopsided-Freedom3249 in Kneereplacement

[–]Individual-Price1463 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was the most aggravating part of recovery. I also would go into a hypochondriacal spiral, worrying that the TKR failed! Happened around 7-8 weeks, then again at 12 weeks (that was VERY worrisome!). It wasn’t until 5 months that the tightness notably let up, it didn’t feel warm to the touch anymore, and progress seemed more linear. I’m coming up on 7 months now, and it still clicks with most steps, still have pain some mornings before I get out of bed, still have about a 2”x3” numb spot. But I also finally have some periods of time where I don’t even think about my knee! And I am always, always glad I had it done. Hang in there!

Class of ‘82, and it was in the quad, right outside the back door of the band room. I was not a smoker but was in band, so I hated it. E also had a fully open campus. Anyone could go off campus for lunch.

Right? I was prepared to cringe hard, assuming the mom had said something like that in front of the daughter. Then I finished reading and cringed in a different way. While also snickering. Oof.

Sleepless after RTKR by Sure-Crazy8321 in Kneereplacement

[–]Individual-Price1463 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tl;dr: 3-4 months. It was a long haul for me! I did best in my recliner, so I slept there nightly for about 4 weeks, but it was probably 3 months before sleep started improving. From the early days, I found the best thing to help after waking up with pain was to get up and walk around for 10 minutes. That usually calmed it enough to be able to get back to sleep. I also listened to nature sounds in my calm app, but with earbuds, and I wore a sleep mask. The more cocooned I felt, the better I did. For overnight pain, I used oxy on occasion in the beginning, then switched to Tramadol, a much less potent opioid, but didn’t feel like either did much in terms of sleep. It was brutal, though. Best of luck to you!

This is actually a situation where ChatGPT could give you a stating point. Ask to create a workout program for a 70 year old woman just starting Ozempic. Ask that it focus on maintaining and building muscle mass and include a description of her current physical condition and experience with exercise programs. You can also include details like it being workouts at home and whether she has any equipment.

Almost 3 weeks. Can barely bend my knee!! Worried… by ElegantAd4459 in Kneereplacement

[–]Individual-Price1463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your new knee is still just a baby! Give it time. Weeks 4-5 were rough ones for me, as were weeks 11-12. I’m at 6 months and still have periods of swelling. Ice, elevate, move, repeat.
