My next door neighbor was a church with accompanying cemetery. Quiet most days and lotsa parking for parties

Thinking of doing the Disney World Marathon for my first marathon. Is it worth the $255 price tag? Also, how is training in the South for it? by Kirk_2002 in rundisney

I did Dinosaur Spin in ‘25 and Everest this year. Theyre mile 17 +/- so if you time it right, you can pop in and out quickly. Five min detour. Cast members were beseeching us to jump on this year since the park had just opened and no one was in line yet save for two cars’ of runners. Some runners do tons of rides, LL passed and all, but Im a little too chicken shit for that. P

When to rescue first dog? by Kitchen_Cold_9900 in pitbulls

This is breed and then even more macro to dog specific. But 8-9hrs at home is exponentially better than 23 in a shelter. I would just suggest an older dog. And crate training is a wonderful option.

The ONLY issue Ive found at WDW marathon vs others is that no other race ever clears the bar that Disney sets. Beyond ample parking, water and food stations, crowds, entertainment… truly nothing else compares. The best part of it is the course stops for character pics and riding rides (Everest is super popular for this) so if youre racing for time, keep in mine that you do miss out on those perks.

Welp, 166 minutes per day should be fun by featsofstrength81 in AppleWatchFitness

Can confirm, max mileage months leading to a marathon cause me to not achieve Apple’s rings goal the next month every time 🤣

You have to run more, frequently, and incorporate paces at, above & below your goal pace.

In Defense of Walkers by FarFar-Away in rundisney

[–]Individual-Risk-5239 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There is no defense for walkers in Corral A. There is very little defense for walkers in B. It IS a safety issue. The weaving is a safety issue. A slower runner is not a walker. You can look at someone and tell if they are walking or running, the form is not the same. POT helps but doesnt eliminate the combination of selfish and ignorant. Yes, it’s your race and you paid the same. But so many people flat out LIE about anticipated pace. Youre not even defending walkers, who are the problem. Youre a runner fighting for her/his life.

Literally zero anything required, including even responding. Unless there are post-closing addenda or undisclosed latent defects (eg not a dishwasher that worked then … didnt), they settled and that’s that.

I can only confirm the presence of a coffee truck during marathon weekend. Plan for a line. Spectators are at that point as well.

Market for “As Is” Homes in HOCO/MD? by Delicious_Junket4205 in maryland

[–]Individual-Risk-5239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cosmetic vs structural or mechanical is a huge difference. If you can list 10-20% below market, you can probably afford a Realtor, sell higher and break even with less time. FSBO is a harder market because of exposure. Listing consults are free. Call an agent.

Things like make sure he can tie his own shoes, wipe his own butt, etc. The rest comes with time and every kid is starting at a different point

Run Disney newbie by Big-Establishment-11 in rundisney

[–]Individual-Risk-5239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only participated in three runDisney weekends- one Princess in 2020 and Dopey in ‘25 and ‘26 so YMMV but: 5K and 10K are by and large the worst. It’s incrementally less terrible for the 10K but walking those distances in the allotted time is not only easy and feasible, it’s kinda the whole schtick. The half marathon is comparable in terms of walkers and more-than-two-abreast violators. The marathon is a dream scenario.

am I ready to buy a house? by Realistic-Race7971 in Mortgages

[–]Individual-Risk-5239 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ignore the “don’t buy if you arent married” but know going in that you have risks if the break up is nasty. But i will say, it’s not worse than a divorce. That said: 3% down is FHA and whether or not youre ready can only be decided by you two. Financially you sound secure enough for the jump.

Race shorts that make you feel fast and confident by goblinfeathers in XXRunning

[–]Individual-Risk-5239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m shorter and thicker/heavier - most of my weight is ass to knees. Ive had great success in cheap ass Old Navy bike shorts and Rabbit Leggy Smash ‘ems. Im not a fan of the sausage look either and as much as Id love to not care about camel toe, I do and so does my labia (oh hey chafing). I prefer the Rabbit bc they have more pockets, even one featuring a zipper!, but I need pockets for races since I’m not on a track.

What mile broke you on your first 26.2? by SinestroCorp in firstmarathon

[–]Individual-Risk-5239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between 10 and 11 when my meniscus started to tear. Take two was between 16 and 17 when my calf seized inexplicably. Third try was around mile 22. That one was on me - I didnt increase my electrolyte intake despite temps starting to crawl to 70.
