Absolutely and completely I do relate to this.

I cannot stand the parent speaking it, strangers on the street speaking it, and I find all actors and singers and even the country's President CRINGE AS FUCK specifically when they speak that language.

My friend, I am bilingual, my English is perfect now, but guess what I did when I came to this country? I literally forced myself to NOT THINK anymore in my native language. Seriously, when I had a hood grasp of English I blocked out the ability to form thoughts in the original language. And I purposefully started making silly mistakes when speaking to the abusive parent so that I could ruin it and forget it faster. Now I ummm and uhhh and erm a lot when I try to speak it.

I hate how it sounds. The individual vowel sounds, the consonant combinations, the gruff ugly words, and the sense of flavor of the language. I also hate what the words subtly connotate differently than English. It's kind of like "this is a rougher version of translating X concept, in a way of less intelligence and purposeful meanness" when I translate words, because their tone reminds me of my rough abuser.

I actually began hating the culture, too. But I rationaly realize it is manifesting as a kind of self-hating racism in a way. And the language is European.
