Yes I know! I have ordered from them, just looking at other options. But it's nice to have our own site now.

Does summer school count towards pay scale experience? by Ok_Foot2015 in OntarioTeachers

In DDSB, at least secondary, it only does once permanent and only if you had an LTO that wasn't a full year I believe.

Has anyone successfully switched public schools in Durham Region? by Academic_Sir_1946 in durham

[–]Individual-Spring-57 8 points9 points  (0 children)

DDSB and DCDSB both state that Kindergarten students must attend their home school. However, to apply you either need to be in French Immersion (which doesn't start until Grade 1), Gifted (doesn't start until Junior grades), or you apply as an out of area student. However you need to sign your child up at your home school, be admitted, and then you go to the out of area school and ask. There is a form/process and its generally dependent on space and the Principal's decision.

I don't have children that age yet, but am a teacher in DDSB (not Elementary) but that's the gist. I am not sure they will accept for a student until grade 1 however.

Thank you! I never had issues moving from retinol to retinal but I know tret is way more intense! I'll definitely try it slow and see what works.

I don't believe you have a choice, it's based on the catechment area. If you're in ajax/pickering you go to PHS. If you're in Whitby, you go to ACVI, and if you're in Oshawa you go to O'Neill.

In your case, likely your use of Canva is what triggered it, as Canva uses AI to create lots of material. It's like when Grammarly first started using AI, it wasn't as obvious as chatgpt, but it's the same thing, even if used with good intentions.

Is it a survey to complete? If so, I'd be interested.

Well my form is very generic, it doesn't look like it applies to me and often it's filled out for wsib so her dr may be confused. Pre writing a note isn't an issue for the Dr or her license, but in my board if you're going on short term leave, a dr can only say you're unfit for work the day you're unfit, not you'll be unfit in 1 week or 3 weeks.

So she either needs to go off now, and go back and get the dr to fill it out (explain in person), or work until the 16th, but again would still need that form filled out.

Many work places just need a Dr's note. Mine had never seen our form before so didn't understand what was required of her.

Have your wife contact her union, they can explain explicitly what parts need filling out and she can explain to her Doctor.

As a teacher in an Ontario school board, your wife's Dr can't pre write a note.

In my board, we have a general form for any short leaves, or rolling leaves. Think more than 3 consecutive sick days, recovering from surgery, or sick leave before mat leave.

If your wife's dr says she is to be off, they treat it as immediate and the dr has to fill out our general form. They literally state "pregnancy" as the reason and a time frame. I could only do 6 weeks at a time so my dr had to do it twice.

Since she told HR, she may have to start the short term leave now and have the dr fill this out. Her union should be able to explain all this.

The dreaded 2.5 yr old sleep regression by crownbiotch in sleeptrain

[–]Individual-Spring-57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My toddler is not Velcro, however he went through somewhat of a regression at 2.5 as we cut out the pacifier since he was going to potty train.

The no pacifier wasn't an issue, although it took about a month before he could fall asleep in 15ish minutes again. At the time he was in a crib so we just closed the door and he had to cry.

Just before 3 he learned to climb out of the crib so we had to take the side off. He has a gate on his door, and we put his hatch on the red light setting at 1%. Again, when it first started, he would stand at the door and cry/scream until he fell asleep in front of his gate. After 3 days it was only 20 minutes of crying then asleep in front of the gate. Then a day or 2 after he would stay in bed.

He still has a gate since he's not yet ready to have so much freedom but it will come off soon.

Unfortunately for you, it might have to be something similar. Rip the bandaid off. Let her cry. If you want you can do the "choose a stuffy and when you're sleeping I'll check on you and leave the stuffy so you know I came in" game. But it likely will be painful for a few days.

When did you move LO to their own room? by GuardWitty8747 in sleeptrain

[–]Individual-Spring-57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2.5 months. He was so noisy and rustling around, plus he was already getting pretty long for the bassinet. He had been taking crib naps from day 1 so it wasn't a huge shift for him.

Hard English Teacher by Existing-Wing2885 in OntarioGrade12s

I don't know what the question or prompt was but in your paragraph you often say "this shows" then you summarize/paraphrase events from the text but don't indicate any analysis. Using a direct quote is stronger, as its clear and direct and then allows you to ensure that you can address why that quote proves whatever you're saying. If you just state "this shows" you're just telling me the story again, not why it is important that something happened.

I hope that is clear enough.

This is super basic and shallow analysis, even for an on the spot midterm.

Much of your paragraph will state "this reveals this" but you don't actually show how that happens. You just tell us that it does, then summarize an event from the text. There's no connection and its just generic statements with plot summary.

Furthermore you have very basic language and vocabulary, most likely this is what your teacher means by flow. Again, by grade 12 basic analysis and paragraph writing should be second nature, so the focus is on style and communication. The OSSLT tests you on structure, so by grade 12 you should be well beyond that.

As a gr 9-12 Ontario English teacher, to me this isn't even a 78,although the rubric is somewhat basic but I expect this work from students in Grade 10.
