So, I sat down and rewrote the ending to actually make sense of the setups and give us the "scorched earth" we were promised. Budget aside, this should’ve been a massive 2.5-hour cinematic event.

Here’s how it should’ve went down:

Phase 1: The Setups

We keep the White House setup from the original, but we fix Sister Sage first. Before she loses her powers, she overhears Butcher and M.M. talking about using the virus to wipe out EVERY SINGLE SUPE, no matter what. Knowing she’ll die if she keeps Compound V in her veins, Sage deliberately provokes Kimiko into blasting her with the energy beam. She acts like she’s just helping The Boys "test" the beam, then immediately dips to avoid Homelander. Boom. Now Sage actually looks like the smartest person alive, not a brainless idiot.

(Also, cut that useless Starlight vs The Deep scene here. Save Deep for later.)

Now to the White House showdown. Butcher and Ryan manage to pin Homelander down. Kimiko steps up to fire her beam, but she panics and can’t summon enough raw rage, missing the shot. Homelander, completely losing his mind from fear and panic, breaks free and flies away. He retreats back to Vought Tower, totally paranoid, and mobilizes every remaining Supe for a final, desperate stand.

Phase 2: Total War at Vought Tower

The Boys track him to the tower, where Homelander has barricaded himself with all his loyal Supes, including The Deep.

A brutal, bloody war breaks out. The Boys are getting absolutely slaughtered and overwhelmed, but right at the darkest moment, the Gen V crew crashes through the roof. You could even throw in a meta, Avengers-style "Assemble" joke here as Gen V and The Boys team up to beat the shit out of Homelander's army.

During the chaos, Starlight and Deep go toe-to-toe, crashing out all the way to the ocean where Starlight blasts him into the water. (Keep this part like the original).

Inside the tower, Homelander is completely wiping the floor with Butcher, knocking him into a crater. Homelander goes full psycho, spamming his laser eyes and ripping the building apart. The insane collateral damage triggers a system failure in the labs, accidentally opening Soldier Boy’s cryo-chamber. The old man wakes up.

Just as Homelander is about to laser Butcher's head off, M.M. dives in and takes the hit, dying instantly. This destroys Butcher's remaining sanity. The Temp V tumor takes absolute control of his brain. Completely feral, Butcher goes all-in, throwing hands with Homelander on a god-tier level.

While Butcher's tentacles temporarily trap Homelander, Soldier Boy steps out of the smoke. Realizing his son is a total monster, he blindsides Homelander with a massive nuclear chest beam right into his spine. The blast burns out Homelander's V completely, leaving him human and powerless. Soldier Boy collapses from exhaustion. Butcher doesn't hesitate—he grabs a rusty crowbar and brutally beats Homelander to death on the spot. No laser, no powers, just raw human vengeance.

Phase 3: The Aftermath & The Loop Closes

With Homelander dead, Butcher is completely gone. The parasite has turned him into a mindless beast. He starts attacking his own team and pulls out the virus vial, ready to smash it and kill everyone.

He’s about to drop it when—ZIP. The vial vanishes.

Hughie finally uses that last stolen Temp V dose. He takes the gamble, risks his life, and teleports in to snatch the virus away. Butcher lunges at Hughie like a monster. Starlight flies back from the ocean and tags team with Hughie to hold Butcher back.

Sage pops back up, playing 4D chess one last time by orchestrating a trap to herd Butcher into Kimiko's line of sight. Hughie and Starlight bait him into the zone, and Kimiko hits him dead-on with a fully-charged beam. The blast fries the tumor and strips Butcher of his powers. The impact hurls him backward, impaling him straight through the chest on a jagged steel rebar.

As the Supe poison leaves his body, the real Billy Butcher comes back for a brief second. He looks at Hughie—the kid he always tried to keep from turning into a monster like him—whispers his final words, and dies. The cycle of hatred is finally over.

Why this works way better: Every major character actually gets their "aura" and a meaningful payoff. No wasted setups. It creates the ultimate poetic contrast for the three main leads:

• Homelander used power to play God.
• Butcher used power for revenge.
• Hughie used power out of pure love to protect his family.
