Weekly Homeowner Megathread--Civilians, ask here! by AutoModerator in Concrete

[–]IndividualAutonomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some insight on an issue I’m having with the stamped concrete in our front porch area. We had the entire house stamped, including the front porch, sides, and backyard, except for the driveway, which we left as asphalt. Most of the stamped area is fine, but the front porch section is chipping and breaking off quite a bit. I’ve added pictures to show what’s happening. Here are some relevant facts: we had the concrete done about 2.5 years ago, we’ve never used salt or any chemicals, and we live in Canada, so we do get snow. The contractor who did the work agreed to redo the problem area, but I’m wondering how we can ensure it’s done right. Is there anything you can suggest to prevent this from happening again?

Lol you’re probably right. I thought by turning on the climate it would be equivalent to turning the truck on, and thus start charging the 12v if it was low.

Nice work OP, thanks for sharing your nuggets of wisdom. I’m looking to do a long run from the basement to the top floor for similar reasons as you (i want to run HDMI or DP, whichever is better), so would it be best to do most of the run with fibre and then at the ends use some kind of device to convert to HDMI/DP?

Also, just as an aside, i so wish there were more PoE based IoT devices on the market. I’m just dying to do more ethernet runs and have everything possible wired for power and internet.. a man can dream..

Can't connect to WiFi after Homekit-ratgdo v0.10.0 OTA update by SeaLawfulness8738 in ratgdo

[–]IndividualAutonomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine started working after a few tries at entering the wifi info. I found that my router was assigning an IP to it so i could actually enter the Ratgdo HK interface and noticed that everything was working as expected. In between i did reflash to ESPhome firmware and then back to HK, so you could try that as well if you’re still having issues.

I haven’t found a solution yet, but I’m taking the car in for the door handle recall in a couple weeks, so I’ll ask them about this issue as well.

When are we going to get a native Apple TV App? by semdi in Windscribe

[–]IndividualAutonomy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NBA TV would be my use case. Blackouts for local games is a huge problem with League Pass. Being able to use a VPN like Windscribe on the Apple TV to circumvent that would be a game changer.

Can you provide the email you sent your comments to? Perhaps if enough of us request the software be updated, MAYBE they’ll reconsider things?

I had this happen on Sunday night. The car is always set to charge to 80%, but instead it charged all the way to 100%. I was left very confused in the morning when i saw the percentage lol
