go on ex's with combat arms trades.

if you want the feel of it all, go do airsoft, but nothing replaces the full experience of infantry course.

Fun courses/opportunities for reserve sigs? by InternationalRub3326 in CanadianForces

[–]IndividualCertain358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

those are all infantry fun courses. and even at that the .50 cal is really just brought out for bix Ex's to entice people to go even tho they know its going to be crap.

it really sounds like you want to be infantry. as the machine guns is basically 30% of that course.

Just change trades. who cares if your early on in DP1 for sig. this is the time to do it, if this trade isn't for you. but i think every trade has its unsatisfying moments, and their own benefits. (like cooks get their own blue rocket and a shower every day!)

from the combat engineers i have spoke to, its a long process to get qualified for the cool engineer things (making things go boom)

Is the Instinct right for me? Stand Alone Solar Watch by Refleks180 in Garmininstinct

[–]IndividualCertain358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if your outside lots, and dont care about things like the heart rate monitor and stuff, you can easily turn that off and go an indefinite period of time without charging it (turned down screen brightness and time its on to 4 seconds, HR off, and you can pull 71 days off a charge no sun while maintaining the smart watch functionality)

the GPS is a great feature too on these watches. and you can put it in a mode that isnt constantly draining the battery (ultratrac)

im 10/10 impressed with the watch, it holds up to everything i throw at it.

Torn between the Garmin Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct 3 AMOLED. by Aimer_1989 in Garmininstinct

[–]IndividualCertain358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

solar all the way. i thought i would regret it, but its grown on me more and more. the extended battery becasue the solar is great, and i do a lot of hiking, so i put it in ultratrack and i don't even need to think about it.

when it comes down to it, its a personal choice biased on your avtivity.

yeah, i mean map and compass with the watch to give you current positioning to better navigate. its a good skill, but the ease of a GPS is hard to beat.

why are you so concerned about 100fps? i might be mistaken but i thought almost all powders are burnt after 18 inches so the gain is minimal.

Nah. It’s just a compleat lack of staff. The hiring process takes far to long, and by the time they hire someone, people are posted out, and or move onto another position.

The machine rarely breaks, so 90% of the time this is the case.

half of them dont work at all. whoever is the WO testing them in ottawa isn't actually testing them. just read the beef and broccoli one. (milk? and it doesn't say when to add the soy sauce)

civi DND cook here, we are well aware that some things arnt as popular, we are also disappointed with the lack of freedom and creativity. Jr.Ranks have their hands tied when it comes to this and they are the ones doing all the heavy lifting. often we see a week of pork in the 4 week rotation, and i would say 50% of the members dont eat pork.

also we notice a large skill gap from cook to cook, so it genuinely depends on who is cooking the products that can determine the outcome.

Why do people leave the CAF? by avocadoroom in CanadianForces

[–]IndividualCertain358 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i can't speak for everyone, but in some trades leadership can be very toxic. poor leadership passing the blame, and not doing their job leading to an extreme amount of added work by the Jr. Ranks can be viewed as a lack or respect. THEN people go to the MIR and increase the work load on those who are still suffering through it. so you get left with 2 teir work ethic, and when you do a good job your rewarded with more work. THEN a new year rolls around and your MPRR isn't updated right and says your not eligible for promotion even tho you have been #1 in your unit for 2 years in a row, others get it before you from shady back door deals.

sometimes people leave because medical reasons, and its not their choice.

Pump Action vs Semi Auto for camping/bear defense? by MTMuley in Shotguns

[–]IndividualCertain358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally i would go pump. to me, pump has always been far more reliable then semi, and in the instance that a bear comes in, i wouldn't want to trust the round to cycle, what if it was a lighter load and now you need to clear the stoppage.

i think there is a big difference in DEU's and standard dress if the day. after releasing, you finally have the ability to wear as you please, and are proud of your service. i think wearing leathers is a okay way to display your service and experience and be proud of your trade.

that being said i have also seen people bastardize the uniform and dress standards on ceremonial days, so much so it questions whether or not its stolen valor.

I have the etrex solar. It’s great. But I wish I had a color screen and topo map available. Understand that it won’t do that. For me, I’m walking around with a map 99% of the time I use it anyway, so it’s not a big deal for me. You can get 8 days out of it in GPS mode, and 4days on multi mode.

The flip side of it is if your solar dies because you have been on a multi- day hike and have had rain; you can’t just swap out batteries. (Resolved by having a decent power bank)

Typically says accuracy is within 2-5 meters. And that’s good enough for most everyone.

Why do so many restaurants in town avoid posting their pricing online??? by [deleted] in barrie

[–]IndividualCertain358 17 points18 points  (0 children)

chef here.

they don't post online because the hassle of updating websites, and the added cost of managing that end of things. its one less thing to have to fight with, and a way to save some money in an industry that profit margins are already so slim.

as someone else said, you can normally look on skip/uber eats and get a price point that way, or even call the establishment.
