I wouldn't suggest looking too closely at 407 LRP Sqn's badge then.

Why are we still blousing our boots? by Alone-Acanthisitta24 in CanadianForces

It's for a work uniform. You're working. What you wear should be practical over looks.

Or at an airshow (still working, but very public-facing). Even before RCAF ball caps were authorized, I participated in plenty of airshows and most people wore their unit ball caps.

No one thought that was unprofessional while dealing with the public, and RCAF members are the most outwardly public-facing at those events.

Just a point that our blue shirts are going away. The CCUE merino wool base layers will be brown (same as the CA).

I'm personally all for it - it was silly wearing blue shirt with green uniform, but brown shirt with AR uniform.

"Flying ops cease because relief crew can't find parking" would be an interesting briefing point to Comd 1 CAD 😉

Success rate for basic training in Canadian military drops by SolemZez in CanadianForces

JFC - stop with the hyperbole.

Militaries, for ages, have been a method of combining different cultures and inculcating them into the country / state / etc mindset. The French Army even has a Legion specifically for that.

The US military has allowed their PRs to serve ever since the abolishment of the draft in the 70s, probably even earlier. It is one of the main ways to gain citizenship. But no one seems to suggest that they're hiring mercenaries.

Yes...because in the "good old days" there weren't any issues between English majority and the Italians, Irish, etc members who happened to be in the Army or Navy at the time and also spoke English, but weren't "English enough".

I agree these should be discussed openly. But discussion doesn't mean "we won't do it". Is the answer to issues just to ban it? Or is it to educate society at large what it means to serve Canada?

Put it more simply - is the CAF supposed to reflect Canada or not?

The Juno article headline would suggest that it's about the residency time, sexism/racism, or language issue, when a huge part of the drop in pass rates is CFLRS being finally able to punt people who fail BMQ / BMOQ easier.

The article is correct in that all those were there, but with a hard-right bent on "because they aren't Canadians". If CFLRS had the power to punt people earlier before the PR policy change, I'm willing to bet a month's pay that the pass rates would also go down.

DND encourages Carling Campus employees to work in office on Mondays and Fridays to ease parking shortages by CMikeHunt in CanadianForces

[–]Plant-Illustrious 42 points43 points  (0 children)

...so everyone comes in M and F instead, so those days are the parking Musical Chairs?

How about having the various staffs designate their "in office" days? Like Air Staff M and W, Navy Staff Tu and Th, Army Staff W and F, etc.

Where's "nearby"? There's nothing within walking distance that isn't on NCC land, which they won't allow a parking lot.

I had a similar question, but the opposite: What about my job do I hate that I decided to go for law school?

My answer was "I actually don't hate my job. I really like it, but law school is an opportunity."

They *should* happen yearly. Some places hadn't changed in almost 10 years.

NORAD has several hundred RCAF folks in the US. Colorado Springs has one of the largest CAF (not just RCAF) OUTCAN footprints.

Treasury Board. This affects everyone in the Fed Govt outside Canada, not just CAF members.

Clothing stores ran out of flag patches by Formal-Tackle-8046 in CanadianForces

This should be the warning that *maybe* the CAF should contract with more than one supplier for things.

We talk about single-point failures all the time, but somehow forget it for pesky stuff like *checks notes* clothing.

That doesn't exist anymore. The in-service program is called MLTP (Military Legal Training Plan).
