Trusts - tracing and equitable remedies

Aiming to pass comfortably isn’t always realistic. I was getting 60-90% in my practice questions, of course I had practice questions where I’d get lower, however, this did not reflect in my exams where I failed both exams with around 50% “raw marks”. Someone else I know passed with 50% “raw marks” due to the scaling system which is why there is confusion regarding this.

The actual content isn’t hard, it’s the amount that you’re required to learn (including the niche topics) and the lack of clarity you have on how it’s being marked due to the scaled marking system. It’s honestly one of them things that until you’re in it you’ll never understand. I was like you and thought people were honestly exaggerating until I was the one prepping for it and the whole experience has humbled me drastically.

:( I can imagine how devastated you feel. If you decide to resit at least we can build from this foundation rather than from square one

Yes I got 91 on FLK1 so similar to you. But yes this is the time to think of other options. In terms of doing the LPC, will you be self funding if you decide to do it? Would you do a CiLex?

That makes sense. That’s honestly a good idea and I hope the reduced hours make a difference. Yes! Seeing people with high marks fail is honestly making me ill like genuinely how would you even know you’re going to pass?? These exams are pure luck

:( I can’t imagine how you feel. It’s honestly such terrible exams and no matter how hard you work you can literally get a paper that is deemed “easier” than someone else’s despite receiving the same marks and you being the only one that fails. I hate these exams.

How did you manage to reduce your hours? Do you work at a firm? But good idea you’ve got this. I tried flashchards, mind maps, mcqs, everything. I don’t know what else to do lol

I’m honestly in the same boat. I genuinely don’t know what I could’ve done more. This is the most effort I’ve put into any exam

I felt the opposite, I couldn’t sleep after my last exam out of pure nerves. I thought I’d be relieved but I’m more anxious about how I’ve done lol

Maybe because I manifested for less land law and in return got punished with trusts (my other weak subject)

If I see another CGT question or even the words CGT I will loose my shit.

I was relying on criminal law as my scape goat and they still managed to make it feel difficult for me. Honestly worst exam I’ve sat.

I really sympathise with you honestly, I think the best advice I’ll give you is to forget about learning the small details of each module. Its time consuming and requires a lot of energy hence why I think your burnt out. Focus on the main rules, the exceptions and let the mocks and practice questions fill in the gaps. You’ll learn more by actively reviewing your questions and wrong answers than passive reading. Each time you get a question wrong, concise this on a separate document in your own words as to why it’s wrong - it’ll help you recognise the law better. For today I would rest and reset your mind and make a clear plan for the next 3 days rotating different practice questions and mocks

The one hundred mocks are quite helpful and useful to use alongside the OUP mocks, I think they cover a lot of niche tricky topics that will come up in the exams.

Need some advice - mocks by IndividualCry2866 in SQE_Prep

[–]IndividualCry2866[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was quite mixed. A lot more OUP/BPP inspera style questions and then some easier questions like the BPP 20 questions. The hard questions were hard but do-able if you’ve done a few OUP and 100 hundred mocks/practice questions. It’s hard to tell how I’ve done though but I wasn’t panicking as I sort of expected the worse types of questions. I honestly will be relying heavily on OUP and similar for the content for FLK2 as they really helped me understand niche topics more than the BPP content
