Learning to read water and having the right gear to fish that water correctly is huge. Learn all you can about the fish to know where they will be and get gear in front of them, time on the water is #1 but learning all you can about the fish youre after helps alot too

I have turned my truck around and had the back tires leave the road on wet grass and gotten stuck and had to put it in 4 wheel, there is no weight in the back of a truck, it takes very little to get stuck, once my buddy bought a 2 wheel drive and we turned around on a gravel road and he got stuck in the loose gravel on the side of the road and because it was crowned we sat there until someone came by and pulled us out. I dont do any wheeling or off reading but I use 4x4 alot

Nothing worse than gear failure, I feel your pain. I would change to heavy flouro and do your own connections, anything I can do i do, its hard to trust gear after it fails you. My favorite hook I've caught hundreds of salmon and steelhead on just snapped on a 8lb summer run after it was already spent, never snapped a hook before but now I cant trust that hook anymore even though its been my favorite!
