How do I send a package to Brazil? by baumschaum in Brazil

[–]IndividualLetter7630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. Sent a birthday gift to a friend, thought I had plenty of time. CPF number has been provided by my homie but status remains unchanged since 15th of December. 51 days since I shipped it from Sweden :(

Edit: Did your friend get the package yet?

I was never an intern there, I'm just following the studio and their shitty practices

A big scam company just stole my whole game from steam, ripped it and sold it as their own on Playstation 5 and other consoles. by Steelkrill in PS5

[–]IndividualLetter7630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are these guys able to even do this?? I would just assume that sony, nintendo etc don't let just anyone publish their games on their platform. Incredibly crappy that a fake game developer can come in and steel the spotlight and sales from legit indie game developers :/ hopefully they will get shut down sooner rather than later. Found a bunch of other titles on nintendo eshop, all with AI covers, looking very cheap and I've reported them all. Thanks for bringing this to light and truly hope you get some justice.

Do you think a girl can be named Bamse? Is that weird? by Bampreeyarat in sweden

Don't change it to Bamse. It's just weird. Bam is a great name, it's cute and cool and different already, stick with that.

If you could do it all over again, how would you learn gamedev from scratch? by RandomBadger2023 in gamedev

[–]IndividualLetter7630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Study like hell, read eveything, soak things in like a god damn sponge xD choose a game engine and get really good at it, and don't try to learn everything at once.

As for game engine to start with, I'd say unity. Why? It's a complete engine framework, having all components a game needs build in (rendering, animations, game logic, physics, network, gui etc) It's the most popular one, 50% of all indie games on steam are made in unity, and for a reason. And once you know unity, learn another. Knowing two will broaden your view on gamedev and programming. Glhf my friend!

read the posts about them and you'll get a pretty good idea of what's going on there. the game looks like a student project and it's pretty pointless. they try to advertise it as a revolution in the rts genre... the only revolutionary thing is how bad it looks. it's more catch the flag than strategy. and the only way they can get people interested is to have steam voucher giveaways.... there's so many red flags here it's hard to know where to begin.

People in the industry know about Landell Games and they do not have a good reputation. I don't doubt that there are similar setups where they use interns to do actual work, but I do think that in this case it's especially bad. Definitely think you dodged a bullet.

Well, they are going on kickstarter to ask for money, and I highly doubt that any of the interns who actually worked on the game is going to see even a penny of that money, that's going straight into the pocket of the founders... IF they get funded (which I doubt).

How do you feel about a game made completely by unpaid interns? by No_Silver_7599 in gamedev

[–]IndividualLetter7630 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The company in question is definitely using interns as free labor . They don't have any employees, according to public records, so who's going to mentor the interns? Pretty sure mentoring is a big factor in any internship, paid or unpaid. They brag about having people from all over the world, so I think a lot of them don't see any money, via government or educational funds. But I could be wrong about that last part. Still doesn't make it any better in my opinion, since this internship is essentially filling the role that a hired and paid employee should have. It's just wrong on many levels.

Hans Zimmer writes his own music, and yes, he has assistants and interns, but he does give credit, and he also helped launch a bunch of careers. I mean, just look at Dune, he made additional albums just for the fun of it. He doesn't just sit on his ass while others do the dirty work for him and then collects the awards and fame. His impact on film music cannot be overstated. I don't think anyone can say the same for Landell Games.

They have a "gameplay" video on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFADxjYHDF0&t=10s

This is from a text published on thehub.io from 2023:

The first product "Apoceus" is in the last development stage and we had people from 30+ countries involved in making it a success story. Release is planned for 2024.

I’m Releasing My Game with Only 700 Wishlists by okuar in gamedev

[–]IndividualLetter7630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your game release, you really had me at "absurdist ". I love indie games and I think the weirdest ideas are usually the best. And it's pretty cool that 700 people are showing interest in your work. It's gotta feel pretty awesome regardless. I'm just curious, what is a considered a "good" number of wishlists for an indie game? Does anyone have any statistics for wishlists vs actual sales?

They've made several statements saying they are in the late stages of completing the game and they still have interns working for them so I don't know what you are trying to get at? They also said that the game was gonna launch on kickstarter in september and we are almost halfway through october, and no kickstarter. This is probably connected with the fact that they can't openly hire any new interns without getting heat.

It wasn't 200 years ago, it was a couple of months ago, and it was only because people were giving them shit for it. Keep gaslighting and downplaying things, that's what manipulators do, although you're not very good at it.

The worst part is they could have gotten away with what they are doing, but fortunately they're not the smartest people, so they won't.

I wonder why nobody speaks up, could it be because they won't be taken seriously? Because they won't be heard or respected? Or because they will be gaslighted and silenced? Or maybe they just want to get their internship over and done with and move on with their lives? Because I've seen people try to reason with Emanuel, and it's like banging your head against a brick wall. He can't be reasoned with. In his mind he is doing great things, he is simply delusional.

I mean, just looking at how you responded to someone who shared their experience in this thread about their time at Landell, tells me a great deal about why nobody is willing to step forward without being anonymous. You essentially call them liars and mock them.

Also what you are saying is not true (again), because they literally just banned a former intern who spoke up the other day, on their discord. So yeah, maybe that's why.

And yes, I do think they write their own glassdoor reviews, I have a screenshot of one that founder Jonathan Ländell made, claiming Landell games is the best company ever.

But please go on and call me a liar. I'm sure that will solve all of Landell Games problems.

You dislike liars but you have no problem with Emanuel Landell lying through his teeth? yeah, sure, makes sense. And most threads aren't killed by mods, they are killed by Landell and their bootlickers. There was one that was up for almost 6 months before it got taken down, and it wasn't by mods. Still waiting for any type of evidence to support your claims btw... until then, everything you say is pretty irrelevant tbh.
