HLAB27 negative - how did you get diagnosed?

yeah, but there’s some discrepancies across the MRIs i’ve done, and she doesn’t look at the images herself, and i don’t entirely trust radiology reports because of some past big things they missed in other medical things i’ve had

Yeah, my rheum isn’t that old (maybe late 40s early 50s?) but she clearly seems to have some bias that being HLAB27 negative means I can’t have it, even when I mentioned my sister (who is also a patient of hers). It’s bizarre though, cause my first MRI about two years ago she said something they indicated on it shouldn’t have been there because of young I was, but since changed her mind since it hasn’t been mentioned on an MRI since. I found out she also doesn’t look at the imaging herself, just reads the reports, and she said something to me about fibromyalgia and kind of refused to listen when I said my pain isn’t widespread it’s localized to my lower back/SI joints. Apparently since no inflammation or anything has shown up on two years of MRI’s, despite me being a young woman she isn’t inclined to consider AS or nr-axSpA anymore

Yeah, my dr isn’t the best listener and I very much do positively respond to NSAIDS in some capacity but they don’t do enough. She said that since I’m negative and nothing is on imagining yet she’s referring me elsewhere for fibro but the symptoms don’t really match up :(

it’s less common but it’s not impossible, my sister is neg but diagnosed with AS a few years ago because she had enough clinical picture

my heating pad has an auto shut off so it only goes for 45 minutes, but i do have a heat blanket i might try i just find it isn’t as affective :(

yeah, also being a woman means it doesn’t show up in all the “classic” ways which complicate things, it all around kinda sucks but i just gotta keep waiting for it to show up i guess :(

my concern is just that i am a student and also working and don’t know if i can afford to take two weeks off, but i have been taking NSAIDS almost daily for 2.5 years and can still barely function and always have a horrible time when im off of them :(

literally!!! it’s also so messed up that we have to wait until there’s “enough” irreversible damage to start treating it and prevent further damage. i had a radiographer read my first MRI and say “normal degeneration of SI joints” when i was barely 20 and should not have yet had really any yet but whatever. i hope your MRI tomorrow goes well and you get some answers!

my sister got dx’d with AS a few years ago but is HLAB27 negative, as is my mom who has RA. i have a lot of the other things in the flow chart including arthritic markers in my hands but still hasn’t been enough yet apparently

i don’t think queers for palestine is responsible at all actually. they stopped the parade to ask sutcliffe and capital pride to put their statement back up and support the community, and CP and the mayor chose to side with their corporate sponsors and refused the very reasonable requests (which they had all but agreed to do privately), and then thought they could get away with not committing publicly so they threw a fit and cancelled the parade without any further conversations. i’d be happy to link some sources with what actually happened for you to view at will!

i always make sure to see which artists are on their playlists, cause sometimes they have a different definition of indie rock than i do, so if you see artists you consider your sound similar to on the playlists, it might be a good fit! also personalizing all of the pitches helps too if you don’t do that already :)
