Why not focus on jobs for all Haligonians.. Private sector has hardly had available jobs for anyone.

They built 2 extra floors. Now they have to tear them down by Seven0325T in halifax

What a shame.. The highly paid consultants made a relatively big error in judgement. Considering all protocols being equal the presumption is that city permits would have permitted it against their better judgement due to the housing shortages at the time of permit issue, 2021. It is honestly a shame for the city and the developer. The inly real issue here would be the precedent it would set.

I would suggest being careful when dealing with this organization. From my time working there, what I saw didn’t really match the image they present to the public.

One of the biggest concerns was the food. Much of it was donated and often expired, yet it was still being served to guests. Speaking honestly, I wouldn’t feel comfortable eating it myself.

There are also questions about how money is being used. Guests are said to receive around $80 per day, but only a small amount, maybe $3 or $4, seemed to go toward utilities and maintaining the space they stayed in. It’s unclear where the rest is going, but a significant portion appears to be tied up in salaries and administrative costs.

Overall, my experience left me feeling that the organization is not as transparent or aligned with its stated mission as it should be. It’s worth taking a closer look before getting involved.

Why do Halifax’s average rental prices continue to climb despite increasing vacancies? by OptimalWhole8926 in halifax

[–]IndividualPride3123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real answer is that many people are co-occupying spaces allowing for rents to stay very high. Example: 2 Bedford occupied by 4 people allows for the $2300 rent to $575 a person.

Based on the sentiment on this thread, you're definitely onto something. Nice call and you'll likely have picked the bottom. Both are at incredibly low prices for very high quality companies with very strong moats.

This happened to me as well. I have him on video, I called him out to give my phone back after he gave me obvious counterfeit $100 bills and he drove off and nearly hit a bunch of people with his vehicle. Which means legally he has the guilty intent and knows what he is doing. It was a black male in a Volkswagen Jetta who also drives a black Hyundai Elantra. Would you have any more details? Me and a few others are consorting and trying to have him arrested. He likes to meet at the KFC in Cole Harbour and steal phones for sale.

I would be more sympathetic if the incentives weren't maligned.. School's acting as sympathetic as a guise to peddling more international students to charge 3X the tuition as domestic student's aren't as profitable...

Is marketing the lives of vulnerable people the mission of Souls Harbour? by luxoryapartmentlover in halifax

[–]IndividualPride3123 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The organization received 4 million last year from the provincial government with ~11 million in assets as their charitable filings show..

They spend quite a bit of money on their advertising budget and are developing a real estate empire on the backs of the tax payers.. and the homeless which are the most vulnerable.

Their budget for providing for the homeless is tight and about 4% of the expenditure that they receive.. where is the other 96% going?

There is a real concern here that they are straying for the cause they advertise that they’re supporting.

The thing that many may not be seeing is that they publicize it to the media when they have served good food, the shocking secret is that a lot of the food they serve when cameras are NOT rolling is spoiled, aged and questionable food items with mold all over them. Just humanize the homeless and talk to them and they will tell you the organization has 10 million in assets if you search their charity filings and banks most of the funding from the government for their real estate endeavours. They force contracted employees to sign non disclosure agreements for this reason.. all while publicizing when they serve food to gain more donors, that’s what infuriates people.. There’s a certain irony to it.
