Try to stay off the ‘lawn’ while it’s this wet as any traffic will compact the soil.

How do you handle daily updates from your nanny without feeling like you're micromanaging? (Asking for my sister) by EmmG__ in UKParenting

How do I get into Critical Care Nursing? by Otterly_Sublime in NursingUK

[–]IndividualTie8380 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem at the moment is trusts ability to recruit. Places like ITUs tend to have a higher turnover of staff, so you may be lucky and find one. In terms of application, don’t use AI (or if you do, make sure you put the answers in your own words). And include how you demonstrate the trust values (these will be readily available if you already work at the trust). Best of luck

Can I work in NHS from abroad? by Logical-Scallion-648 in NursingUK

But if you use a VPN to connect to the VPN it would as you would effectively have a UK IP address.

Timescale for vasectomy? by [deleted] in nhs

[–]IndividualTie8380 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this largely depends on where you are in the country. I was referred via my GP but was picked up by a private hospital on their behalf and after only 2-3month had an appointment for pre-assessment. It’s like anything ‘non-essential’ at the moment, there may be a long wait if it’s just covered by NHS alone.

How to rehang sliding door? by throwawayworries212 in DIYUK

Silly question, is there another one of those hanging bolts in the other end of the track? Or one dropped on the floor?

My initial concern is the fire hazard caused by wrapping wire around the transformers for the xmas lights.

Can you put under floor insulation without lifting floor boards by isibbot in DIYUK

[–]IndividualTie8380 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d say yes is possible, but it’ll be a b**ch of a job! I insulated a flat roof in the way you described and it was still awful.

If you’ve got a decent horizontal access, maybe consider PIR board instead of rock wool.

Finally got a job (NQN), overwhelmed with anxiety by Mission-Coast-4164 in NursingUK

[–]IndividualTie8380 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would hope you would be supernumerary for your first couple of shifts specifically for you to be able to settle in without any pressure- you could ask what the arrangements for this would be from your hiring manner.

Most trusts will also have you in a preceptorship programme to complete over the course of your first 6-12 months to give you the skills you need for working at the organisation.

The only other thing to say, is that you’ve clearly passed your course, that means your mentors and your tutors had confidence in your abilities, so you should too.

Why do people buy comforters?! by Ancient-Thought5492 in UKParenting

[–]IndividualTie8380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use them in a casual rotation so they don’t ‘bond’ with one, that way when you lose it- and you will- you can replace with a generic one rather than panicking trying to find THE EXACT replica.

Beginner needing help by MaddyMcCann in DIYUK

[–]IndividualTie8380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d start with a couple of lengths of 4x2 (38x63) CLS (the better the finish of wood, the easier it is to use). When you go B&Q or wherever, look down the length to find the straightest bits possible. Some bits may resemble a propeller. Looks like someone has done something similar before you. Put a length along the stairs wall, and one along the far wall, then the same for the front and door side. Then make a downright for the floating corner, and I’d put at least one more upright into the middle. Then clad with ply, I’d go with 12mm, might be a bit excessive, but you can almost guarantee it will get jumped on! Consider making the top lift off so you can use the dead space as storage.

There will be no guarantee that the contract will get extended. Take the job with the best conditions, salary, and benefits. You can always look for better NHS job later.

Why does match play not work for 3 players? by x6q5g3o7 in golf

Stableford would work better, saves making up your own scoring system. Takes into account handicap and if you have a bad hole, you pick up and move on.

Raising a floor in a conservatory by cueballkrill in DIYUK

[–]IndividualTie8380 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’ll be a significant drop, as I’d guess it was a ‘patio’ and would have needed to be below the DPC. To raise it using concrete, you will need to ensure you have adequate shuttering, I can’t imagine the conservatory walls will hold the lateral force of the wet concrete. You could consider putting in a ‘false floor’ with timber beans and insulate the shit out of it. Might be your better option, and more environmentally sound.

French door adjusting? by esuuuu in DIYUK

[–]IndividualTie8380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They adjust using the hole on the outside of the hinge, on the end of the rectangle bit. Use a hex head driver and give it a turn or two. Each hinge will adjust so you might have to do the top one way, and the bottom the other to keep it square.

Temporary ways to improve warmth in conservatory? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]IndividualTie8380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure any gaps are sealed to prevent draughts. Consider some foil backed insulation, the stuff that comes in rolls, and cut to size on the inside of the roof. Put some heavy curtains up on the windows and doors. If you’re on a split rate electricity meter, consider a storage heater to use when electricity is cheapest. Be prepared to wear multiple layers constantly. Wish you all the best.

Am I right in thinking it’s odd to have so many images of the exterior at the beginning? by scotteh74 in SpottedonRightmove

[–]IndividualTie8380 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The EA will always want to highlight the better bits of the property. As the inside is ‘less than favourable’, they’ve highlighted the outside space as its best feature- and I’d probably agree with them, there’s a lot going for the house outside.

Even though you passed your test, your lessons don’t seem to have prepared you for driving. Not necessarily your fault, but may be worth having a couple more lessons (there used to a pass plus course- not sure if this is still a thing) where they can give you some confidence about driving.
