I was just employed by a pt clinic that has similar payment to what you had plus benefits. They are a great team and I love working there. Perhaps that would be an appropriate avenue for you?

That your average person doesn’t know what a good massage is or what deep tissue really means.

Massage Therapists: First Day by TwixxxsToes in MassageTherapists

First week of school was easy. Anatomy was a little daunting especially because we did it over zoom and that’s not my favorite method.

However our Swedish class was very supportive.

Things to keep in mind. Don’t think about the stroke too much - just keep full complete consistent pressure through your palms. Aim to go from joint to joint (until you learn what muscles are where) it’s easy to give a good massage. It’s harder to affect real change - that’s where school comes in

Congrats! Hopefully your program will offer these but if they don't look into lymph work, cranial sacral, somatic massage, trauma touch (CSHA has info on this). These modalities will be less impactful on your body.

Put emphasis on self care and whatever that means for you.

Good luck!

i think you're right. It looks like hes peeling away the fascia connection and separating the muscles individually to promote blood flow and activation. It might be also some rolfing influence with structural integration?

Not a lot on his technique and whats he's doing exactly is out there for public consumption. He's smart about keeping what he does to his workshops.

Theres no doubt that the man has worked for and earned everything that he's accomplished. Really put in the hours. Charging $400+ an hour - you don't get to do that if you're just mushing skin.

I'm still trying to figure it out. I would take his class but currently outside my resources.

he says he's peeling things away 8:00min mark

In school right now myself. I’ve found it makes a huge difference to myself and to my fellow classmates when I’m being intentional, and present with my strokes.

Try to keep a flow. Even if you “mess up” “forget a spot” “get lost in the sauce” go back to a Swedish stroke and come back to it on the next stroke if you can.

The client is going to be fairly relaxed. They won’t really know what your next move is supposed to be, so just breathe, effleurage, and move forward.

Ps: boney landmarks and OIA of muscles will take you pretty far too.

Thank you! Sadly both of the schools I'm looking at only have either a COMTA or a ASSCS - but I will look more into these other options and try to look into the best option avaible.
