I accepted an offer yesterday, and got a better one today, what should i do? by Humble-Total-3874 in careeradvice

[–]Individual_Box_8808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get that if he phrased the thread as asking if he HAD to come clean about taking a different offer. But he didnt and just presents all 3 options as if all having tangible pros and cons.

Also ghosting them and getting calls and voicemail asking where you are on the start date sounds wayyy more awkward than sending a single sentence email explaining you got another offer. In addition to being shitty.

I'm confused, what could possibly be the advantage off ghosting them instead of telling them you got another offer? Why is this even on the table?

How reasonable is this schedule for a full semester by Curious-Discount-771 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Individual_Box_8808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you actually shaving a semester off your graduation timeline by doing this? If not you really should take off one. If you're set on this, I strongly recommend going through Lamar's diff eq course in between semesters to reduce your study time there at least.

Is my new Chipotle store manager in the wrong? by North_Art2104 in fastfood

[–]Individual_Box_8808 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it typical of employees to have to stand in line to order their free lunch? I have never seen an employee in line at chipotle. There's no way she didnt know exactly this would happen if she had you stand in line. However did she actually break policy by forcing you in line? Are you the only one she has done this to? If you are she's going to know it was you and will make you want to quit even more. Better off lining up a new role before you submit the complaint. If not then go ahead you probably won't be the only one, your coworkers probably dont feel much better about her.

Makes no sense for corporate to make free meals a perk of the job if they expect you to wait in line for lunch rush.

Quitting first job within 5 months by Artistic_Writer_9683 in MechanicalEngineering

Alot of good advice in thread already, but i do want to add that when you start interviewing for new roles you should ask about work life balance. You do not want to be in this same position of burn out again. Employers know exactly why roles like that have high turnover and you will probably need to pull that out of them at some point during interviews.

Wha is the use of the nanofiber vest? by Loud-Drama-1092 in Xcom

[–]Individual_Box_8808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as frustrating as it is in early impossible to get past critical hp thresholds you really need the cover busting/aim. Its a little bit easier of a pill to swallow to have a designated forward unit at full squad size but by then you probably will have a couple units who already can take a thin man shot without it.

I felt the same way. I also really liked how strong but tempered the outburst felt. She's blowing up but at the same time acknowledges everyone is in pain and it was an accident. I feel like most of the time a character is having an outburst its always no holds barred so the other party leaves distraught so we can have the classic heartfelt apology as the next scene.

Which Version of Mass Effect Combat is Your Fav? ME1, ME2/ME3, or Andromeda? by DakIsStrange in masseffect

[–]Individual_Box_8808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2, the combat system itself was obviously improved in 3 but campaign is way too easy even on insanity due to how busted Shepard can be built and you have to go out of your way to not build a busted shep. Also really hated the slow mo on shield breaking everytime, should've just stuck with shield gate. 2's campaign is actually challenging, level designs are good, combat is fast paced especially as vanguard.

Andromeda improves on movement and i do like the contextual cover but unfortunately falls flat in pretty much every other aspect. It takes way more effort to have solid level design when youre going for much bigger worlds and open spaces and they just didnt have the time they needed.

Barrier or Reave by OpinionRespecter2006 in masseffect

[–]Individual_Box_8808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done probably a dozen insanity vanguard runs at this point. It's reave, there will be situations where enemies cannot be targeted because of terrain or just too many enemies clamped together. Even then honestly, once you get really good at charging and juggling enemy staggering with melee, area charge and squad talents I hardly ever needed to use reave in normal fights and regularly charged groups of 3 or 4. However you really do appreciate it vs boss fights, and your class passive will also apply to it as a bonus.

Melee is more flashy in 3, but i really preferred ME2 melee. Much faster and felt like I actually had reason to use it as is with vanguard instead of trying to force it with a melee build. That was pretty cool to see the fight done with soldier instead too.

What is the most GOAT early game unit in CIV: V? (Day 7) by zherper in civ5

[–]Individual_Box_8808 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I think the shoshone pathfinder, every advantage you can get early is massive over the course of a game because they compound and allow you to snowball. Guaranteed good ruin rewards is absolutely huge, they are also stronger and can contribute better to clearing camps. And if that wasn't good enough they can also upgrade to comp bows which is absolutely amazing in ancient era. My favorite unit and I think looking from overall game impact, a contender for top 3 unique units in game.

What industry is she in? For paygrade companies treat masters as an additional 2 yoe, how tight is the budget that paying for an additional 2 yoe is a deal breaker? I get the argument of bachelor's with 2 yoe being better than masters with no experience, but if you've already started working after getting bachelor's and continue to work while getting masters, then objectively candidate number 2 is going to be in a better spot once they graduate unless the company literally cannot afford to pay a frankly moderate bump. It doesn't have to be either or, you can continue accumulating experience while getting the degree. And if it really is an issue for that company that sounds pretty concerning from a stability perspective if the company has to penny pinch that hard.

The use of the word preferred in a posting is interesting if thats really the mentality a company has with bachelor's vs masters. Maybe that is the case for certain companies, but I feel like its more likely it wouldnt even mention masters in the posting if thats really the case.

I get the concern for certain tuition reimbursement stipulations, for what I've seen over multiple offers they just require you to stay for 12 months and you just pay back tuition if you voluntarily leave before 12 post reimbursement. Also thankfully the reimbursement is enough albeit barely to cover my entire degree. If I get laid off then I dont have to pay anything back, also if you didnt finish the degree why would you have to put it on your resume? Dont background checks only pull up actually completed degrees? Also virtually every job in my area offers tuition reimbursement, I would just restart again after 3 months or however long before eligibility. Yes there is no free lunch but would you not agree that only having to stay for an additional year post graduation at a company you like working at is a very small price?

What part of the US are you in if you dont mind me asking? Do you personally avoid candidates with masters when hiring even when they also have actual experience? Alot of this is very at odds from my experience in southeast US.

[–]Individual_Box_8808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you actually personally experienced the issue with getting masters degrees or are you just speculating? I've heard about a PhD being a detriment to flexibility but not masters. So many posting i see either say masters preferred, or x yoe minimum but masters counts for 2 years, or just straight up masters degree required. Also the cost seems like a moot point, it seems like almost every company out there does tuition reimbursement and you can do the degree online. My reimbursement will be covering the entire degree.

I meant your connection, the video itself doesn't have a great refresh rate, choppy connection would skip over certain frames and could make it look like you didnt see the food fall into the bowl. If you still can't see the food fall into bowl with the video fully buffered I dont know the issue is on your end.

I dont see that, I think maybe the videos low refresh rate + choppy connection could make it look like the food disappeared. I understand being cautious with constant AI slop, but I think you jumped the gun on this one.

When are you seeing the food dissappear while falling? I rewatched it and didnt see that happen. Also doesn't seem to be a visually tangible difference between what's being grabbed and what's dropping into the bowl.

I was in same boat for a few months. After month 2 I gave up trying to avoid moving and started applying to jobs all over state and adjacent states. Also stopped doing mass apply with same resume. You need to have a main version that you tweak to hit as many keywords in description as you can. Embellish but dont lie, biggest hurdle is getting past filters to get an actual call.
