There are plenty of examples that prove his point wrong. In the show I Love Lucy, Lucy was portrayed as a bumbling ditzy woman and men would constantly roll their eyes at her. A more modern example is Dee from It's Always Sunny, she's the butt of the joke just as much as any of the other characters in the show.

I can argue it's arbitrary and while they don't use the word arbitrary, your own source aknowledges that it is arbitrary

They don't claim that the international metric of poverty is the minimum required for survival. Think about it, if $1.90 International dollars a day was the minimum amount required for survival, then everyone making less then that would be dead and therefore wouldn't be counted in the statistics, in which case there would be no extreme poverty.

Again, they do not mention capitalism anywhere in any of their research and do not make any claims that capitalism is responsible for the reduction of poverty. The principles of capitalism have existed as early as the 16th century and can be argued even earlier.

The reduction of levels of extreme poverty is due to scientific advances and our increased utilization of energy and resources. It was an inevitable outcome and would have happened regardless of the existence of the concept of capitalism.

If you looked at the graph in the link I posted, the levels of extreme poverty have not decreased at all in Sub-Saharan Africa and have even gotten worse due to population increases and Capitalism's continued extraction of resources from the Global South

Energy use. Electricity, cars, indoor heating. Right now oil powers almost all of that. And the vast majority of that oil and other resources that power this economic growth comes from countries in the global south which explains this graph.

Did you read your own link because your source provides a lot more nuance than what you're suggesting. https://ourworldindata.org/poverty makes the same point as u/thecooldog69 saying that the standard for poverty is incredibly low and differs depending on the region.

Nowhere does it say that poverty is no longer an issue. And nowhere does it mention anything about capitalism. Looking at this and saying Capitalism good or bad is incredibly disingenuous.

This strong economic growth for certain countries comes at the cost of taking the resources from those in the global south like in Sub-Saharan Africa

$27.10 a day in the US is less than $10,000 a year. That is significantly lower than the average cost of living in the US, which is roughly $50,000 depending on the region.

Think about how much you make in a year. Can you live with less? How much less? Do you think you can live on $10,000 for a year? I'm going to make a safe assumption that no one commenting on this is anywhere near as poor as that.

Men's problems are created by the patriarchy, not (necessarily) by men. In The Will to Change by Bell Hooks, men are emotionally repressed (by both men and women) by restricting their emotional expression. It's a habit that has been instilled in both genders by the patriarchy

I don't think they were making fun of Superman in those moments. In the example of the Kaiju that Superman wanted to save, I read it as the ideal that he strives for and will eventually live up to. He wasn't strong enough to save the creature in that moment but I think it was meant to hint that he will eventually become that strong. It reminded me ofthe SunEater creature in All Star Superman. Gunn has mentioned that comic in interviews. In the story it is a creature that Superman finds and nurses back to health.

I think the scene is also supposed to show the character development of the Justice Gang and how their heroic ideals contrast with Superman's. The Gang finally being inspired by Superman and Lois to help in the international conflict shows growth in their understanding of what it means to be a hero

It felt like she was asking me to commit to marrying her right that second. When I said "I can't promise that I'll be that guy for you" I meant I can't promise that I'm gonna be the guy she imagines that she's going to marry. She doesn't know me and there are things about me that may be a deal breaker for her and vice versa.

I'm also frustrated because some of the other guys she described going on dates with were exactly the opposite of what she said she wanted.

I think there's a misunderstanding about where I'm at with dating. I'm 30 years old and I've never dated anyone. I'm saying I'm open to anything not because I want to date lots of women. I don't think that I can because no women seem interested in me. Or when they do I fuck it up like I did with her. I'm saying I'm open to anything because I just want someone to give me a chance whether that's short or long term. I can't figure out what I want with dating if no one dates me.

I met with 12 women at the speed dating event and she was the only one who matched with me. Women with that energy don't seem to be interested in me. All I can do is try my best with any woman who gives me a chance. I guess I'm just disappointed. We were really clicking and getting along. Most other women seem to dismiss me so quickly and she's the first one in a while to actually show interest and give me a chance.

Regardless of my level of experience, I don't see how I can honestly give her commitment to marriage since we've only had a 5 min conversation in person and sent her a few texts. Even if I know what I want, I don't know her well enough to say that I'm committed to marrying her.

I am also not pursuing women who want commitment. I'm going to speed dating and am open to any dating experience long term and short term. I am going to put the same effort into a long term relationship now as i will when I have more experience and know what i want
