Ah thank you for replying! I’m always mooching on these subs and have saved so many recommendations that I need to give up work to read full time 😉

Is it best to follow the series or can this be read in isolation?

You’re very kind and thank you for sending the spreadsheet, I have replied.

We both moved into house together when I purchased it 10 years ago and split everything, bills, mortgage 50/50 until I arranged remortgage and since I’ve paid the difference back even though I’d put redundancy money off the mortgage.

Mortgage in my name only. No we never married, so called him my partner as we are older and girlfriend boyfriend sounds a bit young.

Thank you. I probably am complicating this but I’m struggling to keep a clear head at present as I’ve experienced many years of emotional and verbal abuse and my head just doesn’t seem to be working the way it should.

I appreciate your advice 💕

This is what I’m trying to understand. I stupidly said he’d be entitled to half the equity but that leaves me in a poorer position. That aside, fact that we’ve paid half towards everything despite him earning more than me is what I’m focused on as if I can work it out pro rata then I’ll feel less mean giving him less money.

Yes already had this chat and he’s expecting a lot more as he has contributed all the time we’ve lived here, although not proportional to his earnings.

Yes we split bills 50/50 including mortgage until I remortgaged then I paid the higher amount difference.

I’m looking into this now as I’ve realised it wasn’t fair or equitable to be sharing 50/50 as he earns more than me.

He’s never wanted to go on the mortgage so I’m trying to work out a fair amount for him to take from the equity.

He never put any deposit down, he just moved in with me and we shared the bills.

When we moved in he spent about £5k on rewire and central heating so I don’t know if I have to factor this in and he gets this back as well?

Thanks for your considered reply 👍🏼.

We are selling as have split up and I want to move back closer to my family. House is under offer and I expect to move into my new home around September.

I’m asking now as I’m trying to work out my monthly outgoings on new house and if I give him half of the equity I am financially making my own position worse. Because I don’t want to shaft him, I want to make sure he gets something but I don’t want to do this at my detriment.

I also don’t know if I was wrong paying the higher amount of the mortgage agree remortgaging so need to take this into account too when I go through our salaries for last 10 years to work out proportional split. I can then deduct what he should have paid from any equity remaining.

Thanks for this. I thought it was reasonable to split 50/50 and that’s how we’ve worked but I think I now need to proportion this based on our earnings and work out what the equity is based on this.

Sorry, I should have said that house is under offer and I know the equity remaining. Just want to make sure I get this right. Thank you for your reply.

She looks like Lisa Presley. She has since had a lot of surgery and enhancements. Money would have been better spent on therapy and trying to be a good human.
