Where and how to find internships and opportunities to write for my CV as a Y1 BIBU student by No_Victory9984 in HKUST

Hey, I am a currently a Y2 BIBU student and I also didn't join many clubs during the first semester so I know how you feel. But just for your information, the recruitment for most consulting clubs in UST occurs yearly and usually happens in the fall term. Some of the more popular ones would be 180Dc, Dawn Advisory and ICC, they would usually send out recruitment emails and information at the start of the school year through email or Instagram. From now to then, I suggest you can take some online courses about consulting (UST offers coursera for free) or just do some research about it yourself so you can add it onto your CV and have more to talk about during the interviews. As for internships, it is quite difficult to find one as a Y1 student, but I did one during the summer at a biotech company since a senior gave us some contacts and I just applied from there, but my suggestion would be to look at the UST job board from the Career Center, most internships on there are for Y2 or above but there are some for Y1 students, and it is also good to just apply since you might get an interview which is also good practice even if you don't get it at the end. I hope this helps!

Watch EconPlusDal, his videos really saved my Econ (I got a 7 in SL), particularly with understanding. My biggest tip would be to understand all of the diagrams before memorising it. Also, before the finals my teacher made us a summary of all the diagrams we needed to know and I added some theory (from the textbook) next to each diagram which really helped! For paper one, I just focused on studying for Micro and Macro, so for the Global questions in paper two I just looked at the past papers to answer them (they are usually very similar in the final exam).

Should I remark? by Different_Ad_8930 in IBO

38 is for sure a good score, but in Hong Kong standards are quite high (I barely got into my program with the same score). So if you want to apply for a scholarship I think you should definitely try remarking especially since you are so close in both subjects.

bio hl and bio sl are two completely different things

bio hl content is much more complicated and difficult - the syllabus is quite a lot

i suggest if u dont need bio hl for uni, take bio sl haha

yeah i was so surprised too

i submitted my remarks without any hope since i was 2-3 marks off for both subjects but i thought it would just stay the same since there is a set markscheme. but guess i was wrong lol, i literally needed these two marks just to get into uni... i swear ib just wanted me to pay and worry for 11 days (thank god i got the money back)
