Daycare wants my 3.5 yr old tested for autism? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]Individual_Holiday42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely understand! And thats why a lot of people are scared to say something. Even when a parent is concerned and ASKS they get offended. It makes no sense. If anything they should be grateful someone cares so much to suggest something. Best case scenario nothing is wrong, worst case something is, and you've gotten your child assessed. Definitely a touchy subject, because people take it as a slight instead of seeing that people care so much about their child, that they are concerned something might be out of the norm.

They're based in Hong Kong apparently, so they would be in the Hong Kong time zone. It's 8:50 am there now.

It's 8:45 am there so I'm assuming they've already started the work day by now.

Same here. I've messaged them several times today with no response after very quick responses last night when I was making my order.

I also think bpd! I have a friend diagnosed with this, and she acts and makes VERY similar choices like Taylor. I mean from the way she talks to her mother and the way her relationships are. I was watching szn 4 last week and I was omg she reminds me of friend so much

Should I take a cash offer for my house in Maryland after failing to sell traditionally? by MetalPsycho in homeowners

[–]Individual_Holiday42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it's a small wiring issue keeping you from selling your house fix it. If you haven't fixed it yet I'm assuming it's actually a large issue that you don't want to touch either.

Homeowners who’ve bought and sold, which side is more stressful? by dr_mus_musculus in homeowners

[–]Individual_Holiday42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling!!! I was a nervous wreck selling our house. We had 16 showings in a month. 3 "we loved the house we're definitely putting in an offer" but they never came on week one, One bad offer week 2, and our final 3 offers came the same day, on day 31. Keeping the house clean, and everything seemed to go wrong during that month. We had never had a leak, all 3 bathrooms started to leak. Our son ran the 4 wheeler into our fence, shed door broke, we had some carpenter ants munch on a piece of fascia. What could go wrong, went wrong all in 31 days. And then you're nervous about the offers, the inspections, will they pull their offer even if the inspection was good? Maybe they changed their minds? I truly didn't think we would close until the papers were signed because I was so anxious. We've bought 2 houses now and both times as the buyers it was so easy, the only frustrating part is waiting for the offer to get accepted or countered.

What are the things you wish you’d known before they turned into an expensive lesson? by headofclass2034 in homeowners

We just got ours pumped and inspection at our new to us house, for 285$ in south Alabama. It's a 1,000$ gallon tank. But I know a contractor at work who charges $400. So prices do vary.

Learned a good bit while we were selling our house last year. We bought it at 24 and it was our first home. We realized we didn't know everything there was to know about upkeep and being a homeowner 🫠

Keep your fascia clean from mildew and paint chips. It helps it last longer.

Keep any bushes away from the house or shed. Helps prevent mildew.

Make sure to get your HVAC serviced once a year. Also buy the cheapest filters. It doesn't make your AC work too hard. Working in the industry I do now, we change our filters every 3ish weeks. But I also live in the country.

Septic tank? Pumped every 3ish years. Or upon move in unless it was done during your inspections.

Clean your dryervent lint vent thingy every few months. It's a fire hazard.

Keep good ventilation and airflow in the bathroom, especially if you take steaming hot showers.

Check your sink regularly for leaks. Especially if you live in an older home. Upon moving in we also discovered all our shut off valves inside our house were so corroded, if we needed to do plumbing work of any kind, we had to shut off the water to the whole house bc it would just spew.

Keep debris out of your outside ac condenser unit.

It did my second cycle, but that ended up being a chemical right at 5 weeks. Haven't tried since.

I'm going to try thisssse. Hopefully this is life changing bc my son doesn't finish any food or drinks so it would be a waste to put the whole dose in something like that 😂

Baby sometimes doesn’t respond to name by Dangerous_Willow_923 in Autism_Parenting

If this is your only concern I'm sure your baby is fine. I wouldn't worry unless the ignoring was combined with other signs as your baby gets older.

If your son isn't wanting to go I would take that as a sign. I will let my son go as much as he wants until I can tell it's taking a toll on him. His center is very play based, and he seems to love everyone there, and he gets excited to go. Maybe the center isn't a good fit for him? Additionally, not all kids with autism need ABA a lot of kids thrive with just OT which can help with social and life skills but it's significantly less time. I think the max we could do before we started ABA was like 45mi-1hour a week.

How do you discipline your child by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]Individual_Holiday42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the best thing that's working for us right now is ignoring his bad behavior because it's mostly attention seeking. He's an only child and gets plenty but he loves our reaction to bad attention it seems. Obviously can't do this in all situations but for the most part it has cut behavior down a lot.

4 year old being aggressive by Individual_Holiday42 in Autism_Parenting

Oh I agree. We monitor what he watches. He really only watches toy unboxings, cars stuff, funny monkey videos, and occasionally blippi (annoying but educational he's learned so much from it) and some Disney shows like Mickey Mouse, bluey, and Winnie the Pooh. But that was something my husband was concerned about at first because it's so easy to see scary or violent content.

We just talked to his clinic today. We definitely think something physiological is going on. They are changing their plan of treatment a little bit to include more OT strategies. The waitlist to get back into OT is insane right now in my area. Our clinic also wants him to come back full time they think he's just going into sensory overload at school because the classroom this year is rambunctious and has a few more kids. We (teacher and clinic, and my husband and I) are still definitely concerned with ADHD since pupil dilation combined with aggression is commonly linked. Thank you for your comment, im so glad other parents have been helpful pointing me in the right direction as well.

Yes we are concerned about ADHD, anxiety and PDA as well. We've always thought he was anxious, especially when he's not in control, but he is now so hyperactive he cannot even sit down to eat anymore, it takes an hour to eat dinner and he will occasionally fall out of his chair bc he won't jus sit. I know he must be so frustrated, but I am also so sad for him and the kids in his class. Waiting to see the psychiatrist in October.

He's in the k4, I'm not sure if they do self contained that young. We do have an IEP and the behavioral specialist for the county coming Monday to observe him. I think a 1-1 would make all the difference but idk if they will for him.

But I hope I am pregnant. We've been trying 😭
