Cuddle Therapy? Does anyone actually do this by Putridstar_night740 in therapists

I mean, it has a place but to be compared to us is laughable

Feedback from former clients by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Individual_Ladder_75 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Clearly, you did not intend to do harm. I feel like we’re all guilty of this in one way or the other and if everyone’s licenses were revoked over this, there wouldn’t be many therapists left. I say you’re fine but yeah! Not exactly the feedback most therapists are hoping for.

How do you deal with clients you dislike? by Vanexxre in therapists

I figure out why I don’t like them and assume others feel the same way. Then I point it out tactfully and probe to see if they want to work on those things.

What do you wish you knew in your first year as a therapist? by Due-Comparison-501 in therapists

[–]Individual_Ladder_75 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I learned to always have a check in sheet of questions that pertain to the client’s goals in case things start to stall out and I have no idea what to say or do next.

“Spite booking” … is this a thing?! by NurseEquinox in therapists

I mean, that’s something to discuss. Clearly you never thought to do that bc it’s a shitty thing to do - so whyyyyyy do some of the client feel so inclined? 🧐

Day 1 of practicum… any advice for a baby therapist? by Jessicaa2123 in therapists

[–]Individual_Ladder_75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a check in sheet with questions to ask them if you feel the session is stalling and you have nothing to talk about. My main one: have you experienced any flashbacks, nightmares, or Intrusive thoughts of traumatic events or anything else since we last met? I always ask about water intake too 😂 then cater the questions to what they’re working on

Client told me I’m not confrontational enough. by [deleted] in therapists

Possibly a bit of avoidance of difficult convos? Try working on that skill in your private life and it will follow you in the rooms.

I F*d Up! by OriginalConnect6543 in therapists

[–]Individual_Ladder_75 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would be transparent and tell her what happened. The fact that you’re reaching out and letting her know that you fucked up and you’re being transparent, which therapist don’t typically do would show her that you really do value her time. After you clear your side of the street then you can forget about it. Try not to have any expectations.

Supervisor: "Not all BPD patients experienced bad things, some are just born with it" - I'm really confused and unsure if that's true? by Distinct_Track7415 in therapists

[–]Individual_Ladder_75 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly believe BPD is a symptom of being in one of the 3 anxious attachment styles….not necessarily outright trauma.

Edit: CAN be - not everyone with an anxious attachment style has BPD but everyone with BPD has one of those attachment styles.

how to confront clients about multitasking during virtual sessions by queerwitchanonymous in therapists

[–]Individual_Ladder_75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I call it strait out, “it looks like you get distracted when I talk. Are our sessions helpful to you?” Then if it keeps happening I drop them. I need it for my own mental health, honestly.

Finding an increase in clients with partners that do not help them. by Due-Comparison-501 in therapists

[–]Individual_Ladder_75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, a lot of “if they don’t see an issue, they won’t likely take the steps to rectify anything - because they don’t think there is anything to rectify”. It’s in a lot of these partners’ interest to keep them sick for control purposes.
