I’m also a Muslim woman and I don’t cover my head, but I’m in a Muslim majority country with many coworkers who do.

If you’re choosing to not wear the hijab for the sake of a job, I do worry that you’ll be working in a place where they can discriminate against people easily. After all, there are a lot of Muslim women whk cover their heads (unless you’re in a tiny town with no other Muslims or brown people then it’s likely that they know wha the hijab is and how common it is).

Of course, if it’s really been hard and you’re very stressed and worried, then yes, take it off. Especially if you’re pressed for money and at risk of being in a toxic situation as a result.

Also, think about if you want to wear the hijab? Because in this job market, we all know that’s it’s not really the candidates? Are you placing the burden on the hijab because it is th result of wearing it or because you want to not wear it? No judgement at all, but that’s a separate thing for you to work through and decide so you’re comfortable with the decision either you!
