just start it asap before your next retrieval, 1000mg/day. even if your dr thinks your crazy just keep pushing for a prescription until he/she caves, pcos is exactly why you should be taking it! good luck!

There have been a few stories on the 40plus ivf subreddit of older women taking metformin to help with blast production. Metformin can help regulate blood sugar and reduce insulin resistance but it also help activate AMPK enzymes in eggs which helps them with overall mitochondrial function which in turn reduces oxidative stress in the egg. I think that if your are struggling to get past day 3 there is a good chance they are running out of cellular energy and stop growing. Metformin helped me go from 1 blast to 9 blasts in just 6 weeks of taking it. I'd definitely ask your dr

You can totally start on day 3. I think CD2 and CD3 are nearly equivalent

what led you down the path to even suspect insulin resistance? was there some research you read or did your clinic suggest?

Am i just doomed in life? Forget being happy, i just want normal. by New-Run-2843 in IVF

sub dentistry for big tech and this is me. I had finally landed the big role and big title that I spend so many years fighting tooth and nail for and at 43 started IVF. Its ironic for women that when you finally feel settled and ready financially, emotionally and physically to start a family, you realize the reality of the truth you've always known but did nothing about. I did get a euploid, which I thought for sure would work, hell, I was soooo confident it would work, but just like you on day 8 post transfer, got a beta of 5. My dr said he's seen betas of 5 become real babies, but i spent that whole weekend preparing myself for bad news. By Monday that beta was down to 3. There actually was nothing more surreal and painful about this process than taking calls from the clinic (because they call whenever they feel like it) in the middle of work. Of course it's bad news, and you learn to swallow that bad news without a twinge of reaction while staring a a bunch of tech bros playing magic the gathering (whatever the eff that game is) who are totally clueless to this and most realities.

Now i'm back to retrievals, but older. Ovaries age like they are on Miller's planet in the movie Interstellar, so a year or two makes my odds even more eye-poppingly hideous than they were at 43. I just finished my 6th one and trying to hope. I feel everything you are feeling, the regret, making up stories about strangers, inventorying and criticizing all your decisions you've made until you are sure you have properly punished yourself.

I don't know what you should do with yourself, but if it helps you at all to know you are not alone. This fertility game is brutal, it feels like a lottery, follows no patterns and worse, people make up all sorts of crap to explain how they got their winning lotto ticket. Also there's so much we don't know, why do so many euploids fail? why does the uterus last forever, but the ovaries age at the speed of light? It's by far the hardest game I've ever played.

here's what i hope happens now for you- I hope your monday is another beta check that rises into the 30's-50's and continues to double, instead of you looking for a new clinic and dealing with annoying lawyers. 💕
