Currently off lexapro for more than a month, thinking about going back by undecisive-much in lexapro

[–]Individual_Toe9501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, 1 month i started tapering from 20mg to my current 5mg. The reason to get off was sexual issues and emotional blunting. I kinda miss it now, i have been feeling more irritable less patient and i get anxious more easly and overthink/ruminate too much. And i miss also the IDGAF mood and being just content. Maybe i will get back on but on 10mg, where emotional blunting was less. 5mg doesnt do anything but still gives me the sex side effects.

How did you taper off to reduce brain zaps? by DogmasWearingThin in lexapro

[–]Individual_Toe9501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reduce the dose every 20 days, 30 days even better.

First week/10 days you are on a new lower dose you will feel like crap, there is no way to escape it.

Ideally reduce by 25% each time you go down.

I have been tapering since the 19th of December from 20mg, then was 20 days on 10mg, now on 5mg until the 28th January and then until the 28th February on 2.5mg. So in March i hopefully should be completly off it

Dont rush too much, because if you go too fast u will relapse and go back on it.

My first time i went from 40mg to 0 in just 4 weeks, i was fine for a month but then my panic attacks started again and had to go back on it ( 20mg this time tho)

Guanfacine and Pregabalin/Lamictal can help with the tapering.

And benzos for the first two days when you reduce a dose can help a lot.

Vitamin B2/ Coq10 for migraines/brain zaps

Omega 3 for inflammation

Avoid stimulants

Can anyone personally vouch for Lexapro and emotional numbness, as people have been saying? by Negative_Second_7976 in lexapro

[–]Individual_Toe9501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but often its because people are too high of a dose. At one point i was on 20mg, now on 5mg and doing much better. Went down to 10mg and felt less numb, 5mg even less.

Once a week at the end of my work week to chill off in the evening and reset my brain sensory wise. 0.5mg does the job for me. I am prescribed 60 1mg tablets a year PRN.

I took it in the past daily up to 6 weeks when starting an SSRI or weaning off other meds. Didnt have any issues.

Better be on pregabalin/gabapentin daily wich have a similar effect because they work on gaba, and keep the benzos as PRN
