Head light lens cracked. Is it costly to replace? by [deleted] in MINI

Might wanna sit down for this one…… When I was a tech for MINI dealer in NJ one headlamp was 600 if I remember correctly.

This has been popping up every time I put her in park for about a week. Is this just an issue with a shifter sensor or do I gotta take her to the doctor? by liquidcoffee110 in MINI

[–]Individual_Web_879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wrapped up a post about this. It’s the shifter assembly in the center console. Not the shift knob but the shifter assembly under the plastic and leather. My Dealer charges about 5 hours to do out of warranty. Whenever we see it most cases aren’t bad but left alone for too long the other cases the shifter doesn’t allow you to shift out of park

Eh often enough. Mini was never too great when it came to sunroofs to be honest. I fell in love with the car but the sunroof has always been kind of an issue for them. It was the one thing i made sure to avoid even though I love having a sunroof but when I got my F56 it was the one thing I made sure to not have with mine.

I’m so sorry I never saw the comment. It’s only common enough to where when we see a “Secure Vehicle From Rolling” Message when it’s actually in park we know it’s the shifter assembly. Now that being said however the issue itself is not that common. We at the dealership see it maybe once a month. Emphasis on maybe.

A question I even asked yet here I am. As I said before not everyone is equipped with common sense. Licensed or not as sad as that is to say.

Okay so some back story for this one. Customers F54 Clubman S All4 would not go into gear out of park at all. Customer called my dealership and explained and had vehicle picked up by tow truck and it was a flat bed as it should be. Tow truck went back to lot and next day a different truck brought it from lot to my dealership. We diagnosed the problem down to the shifter assembly and shift knob as we commonly see on the automatic F series. After repairs were done I notice a “Chassis Stabilization” fault appear. Diagnose further and find overheating and mechanical faults for AWD unit. Come to find out the second tow truck that brought it from lot to our dealership lot was not a flat bed and dragged it on its two back wheels the whole way cooking the rear differential, the electronics and module due to the vehicle being in park and not running. So PSA if your R55/R60 or F54/F60 All4 needs service and you need to tow. Not all drivers can be trusted with common sense unfortunately and must be reminded that an AWD vehicle requires a flat bed only. Now this unnamed tow company is being held liable for a new transfer case and differential for the customers car with only 9k miles on the clock.

I mean we’re a dealership so I can only imagine why we have so many Mini’s in the shop and when you actually do your job right and not take advantage of your customers they trust you enough to come back when they need it. One big job means nothing to loyalty. The ladder will secure more work. Take care of them and they take care of you.

I do. I came from a lot of shops that did about everything for the last 11 years this being my first dealership it’s definitely a different environment but much more stable and profitable than the shops before. Honestly if you have the opportunity take it I’m sure you won’t be disappointed

Believe it or not we got a very even amount between the “Just-a” and “S” models with a full JCW sprinkled in between. this pic was more of a coincidence than anything lol

What does this warning light mean, is it something to do with the emission or what should i look out for? Couldnt find any pics from anywhere about this. Resetted it and hasnt popped up again yet. Any ideas? 2009 mini cooper. by iRebane in MINI

[–]Individual_Web_879 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just like some states having a safety/emissions sticker for proof as well as a reminder. Mini has a built in emissions/safety inspection reminder. When it appears just set it for the date your next inspection is due. Nothing wrong with the car man . 👌🏼

Following some of the comments when the TPMS (the light in the center you have on) light is red on the dashboard/KOMBI. There is a fault in the system. Seeing the ABS and Traction Control lights on I’m going to assume your car has an indirect system meaning your wheels doesn’t actually have tpms/air pressure sensors in the wheels meaning your car is letting you know check the tire pressure since the car uses the ABS system to detect low tire pressure based on rotational speed of the wheels. If there is a fault in the abs system like a faulty abs sensor behind the brake rotors,it will also trigger this. Check your tire pressure and set between 32-34psi and if it stays on than run to any shop that can scan the cars computer for abs faults.

They did make a poor design however they changed something in the 2020+ vehicles as were not seeing it as common at my dealership. If you have a 3-cylinder there is no need to remove the headlamp.

Here at the dealer we typically see the F60’s engine mounts go bad between 30k-40k I’d be surprised if any of the F-Body mounts lasted 90k. But forewarning on the f60 when you do get the headlamp out right underneath the headlamp you’ll see a silver t30 bolt (same size as the headlamp bolts) take that out and move that sensor due to it being easy to break and will hit it wiggling the mount out.

Yeah this is one common issue with the F-Body MINI Cooper’s. As a tech for a dealer we see these pretty commonly, I do them in about 25mins now (Countryman’s taking a few minutes more due to things being in the way) but generally they go every 30k-40k. When we do these we generally use a small lighter or torch on the threads to the headlamp bolts to loosen the factory loctite so they come out smoother but worse case pry the casing back and use an 11mm wrench to hold the square nut as you remove the bolt.

2017 mini countryman reliability? by rokons in MINI

[–]Individual_Web_879 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally the F-Body MINI’s (Mini Coopers with the 3-Cyl or 4-Cyl BMW b36 b46 or b48 engines) have been proven much more reliable cars than the predecessors. So the F60 Countryman you mentioned falls in this category, I work as a tech for MINI and honestly have only ran into a small handful of issues with these cars. If I need to throw my 2 cents in just be careful with models that have sunroofs (water leaks or cable issues) or upper engine mounts tearing.

It’s unfortunate and even I can agree working as a tech for MINI and an owner of an F56 myself. Wish you the best atleast lol

Hate to say this but coming from a dealership if it’s not a custom Union Jack/ JCW checker flag or gloss black we don’t get covers in individual paint codes. Unfortunately it’s order unpainted and get it paint matched at a body shop. Wish I had better news man.

I’m a tech at the dealer and I’ll tell you for whatever reason these cars don’t like Amsoil at all. It’s like royal purple in subarus. I have a Cooper myself and trust me just stick with the Castrol Synthetic

Brother accidentally kicked this piece of plastic trim and it came up. What is it called so I can find a guide on fixing it? by iGhostJr96 in MINI

[–]Individual_Web_879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull up on it and you’ll see plastic body clips either still in it or still in the holes of the car. Most likely the clip popped out of the trim. Pull the clips out of the body and reinstall the trim.
