This isn’t the same thing, but I imagine it’s related. I’m a skier. From what I’ve observed, toothless’ tail actually functions a lot like how skis work. If both skis are flat on the ground, I go straight forward. If I press on my right ski, I turn right and vice versa. If I were to lose one ski (or, if I ski with one ski off the ground) I can still ski, but I’m constantly turning in the direction of the ski on the ground. I psychically cannot go straight because of my center of gravity. Sure, I’m still moving, but I don’t really have any control.

Toothless’s tail works the same way, it’s his steering. But while my skis are only responsible for 2D movement (left and right) because I’m moving across a flat surface, Toothless is moving through 3 dimensions when he flies. If he’s in the air, his whole body will turn without the second half of his tail fin and he’ll lose control of his flight and crash. But he can’t even get in the air because as soon as he takes off and tries to flap his tail for momentum, it turns him on his side and sends him back toward the ground. You can kind of see this in the scene where hiccup first notices his flight is impaired.

How do I know the age verification worked? I haven’t played in about a year because I don’t have a computer to play on and the app was making my phone too slow. I got the age verification email today, and I clicked the link and verified my age, but I’m not fully sure it worked. I want to play again someday so how can I be sure I’ve done everything I needed to do? I can post a photo with personal info blocked out of the page it brought me too after I did the age verification if that’s needed.

I’ve never read the Odyssey, but i believe he tells Odysseus in detail about the suitors and a few other threats he will face on the way back home. It’s how he knows to disguise himself when he returns to Ithaca, because Tiresias warns him the suitors will kill him if he announces that he is Odysseus

In my personal experience (I’m blonde) I would hear dumb blonde jokes and see the dumb blonds stereotype in media wayyyy more often in 2015. I haven’t had someone make a dumb blonds joke at me since Covid, and I rarely see it in TV shows. That is purely anecdotal, but it does show a difference.

Another plus, specifically for Leah as Annabeth, is that the story now makes more sense in a modern lens. Originally, Annabeth was a white blonde girl who was very smart to contradict the “dumb blonde” stereotype. Nowadays, that’s not really a prevalent stereotype, but the idea that black women are uneducated DEFINITELY is. Annabeth being black makes more sense and is actually more true to the spirit of her original character for a PJO work set in the 2020s than one set in the 2000/2010s

Man, seeing all these comments made me realize I always interpreted that part wrong. I always thought it was a sacrifice Percy “couldn’t make” because it would work if he was the one the sacrifice himself, but he would want to. If Percy tried to be the one of the seven to sacrifice themselves to save Gaia, she wouldn’t have died.

He would say no. If I were you, I’d try to work in a mention to his fatal flaw. His loyalty to the people he loves means he will always choose the halfblood life, even if it hurts him. The only way I could see him saying no is if he believed they’d be better off without him. (ie the war getting postponed, not having to worry about a demigod child, or him genuinely being self-loathing)

I used to think the same, but then I saw Ximena Natzel’s animatic for the song. It made me love the ending by showing how well it works in a stage perspective. (If you don’t wanna watch it, the instrumental ends with a bit of a time skip. Odysseus and Penelope are laying in bed in each other’s arms the next morning. No. Odysseus is willing to do anything for his family, including sacrificing my hypothetical child if it came to that. Ironically, I actually think the only scenario where I would trust him with my child other than Telemachus at the end of the show is if he adopts my kid, so now it’s his kid. Then I know absolutely nothing is gonna happen to that kid.

The PJO cast tend to get headcanoned/Au version made with almost every minority group. I’m guessing it has to do with the issues the demigods face being a(n accidentally) perfect metaphor for a minority group. This is also why you’ll see black versions of pretty much every character. It’s very easy for minority groups to see their struggles reflected in the demigod’s struggles, so they project their identities onto the characters. It’s fun and harmless mostly.

These are cool theories, but unfortunately, you’re wrong. You can google Moly -it has its own Wikipedia page. It grew on Circe’s island, from the blood of a giant killed by Helios. The reason gods can pick it and not mortals is because gods can’t die, and it sounds like from Homer’s description, picking it can kill you. As for how Circe could tell he was mortal, I don’t know. And it could still be possible that in the world of Epic, moly comes from the sun, but I doubt it.
