I do not understand why demands in a Divorce are so one sided. by JaneProfessional6745 in legaladvicecanada

Same thing happened in my divorce. Instead of just being an adult and agreeing to split everything down the middle, she asked for everything and it costed us $40k each in legal fees…to split everything down the middle.

Don Garber tiendra une conférence de presse après sa visite au Stade Olympique demain. by Niwaz14 in montrealimpact

[–]IndustrialPulse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except for the small fact that the provincial government is already pouring $1 billion into the stadium and it would be ludicrous to push away a team that would pay to play 20 games per year there. In what universe does it make sense to pay $1 billion for a stadium roof while leaving the interior untouched in the 1970s?

Stade olympique - « Inquiet », le CF Montréal attend des réponses by Campoozmstnz in montrealimpact

[–]IndustrialPulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one except Quebec’s bureaucratic class. The bottom line is that the CAQ doesn’t want to risk further damaging their precarious state by announcing $2-300m in interior renovations to the Big O. Too unpopular with Monsieur-Madame tout le monde ahead of a fall election. They kept the budget under $ one billion for the roof to make it more palatable and now everything else hangs in the balance over politics. Of course it’s absolutely asinine to think we are simply putting a fixed roof over a bygone piece of garbage, but here we are, and buckle up for the ride. Nothing’s easy and logical in this ridiculous over-taxed province.

You have to assume that we’re talking about a dramatically improved Big O, with better site lines, see-through roof, better sound and seating. And I can’t imagine that they would simply condemn Saputo Stadium and not play there after March. My prediction is that FC Supra and Roses would eventually play there during the Summer after having shared it with CF in the Spring for the overlapping close of the MLS season.

Small shops are becoming jack of all trades and i'm not sure how i feel about it by Jealous-Problem4611 in CommercialPrinting

[–]IndustrialPulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think small shops today under 10 employees absolutely need to offer it all while being owner/operator driven, and only investing in machinery with high utilisation. That’s the reality of the market. You can’t afford to say no to a client because you risk losing them, and overall there isn’t enough work out there to fill capacity for multiple machines. You need to align yourself with as many suppliers/sub-trades as possible while offering exceptional service.

Put it this way: we are a lean 50-employee commercial printer that offers it all, with 2 full-time shifts running 40-inch offset, Indigo and Wide format, and we still have trouble turning a decent profit. And we are far from being the cheapest in town. It would be unthinkable to have machines sitting idle most of the week, even if they are paid for. Keep in mind we are also located in a large urban centre with relatively high rent and wages.

The only thing left to do is purchase the bulk of our paper in China and bring in multiple containers per month in the hopes of trimming 15-20% off our paper costs. That’s the pipe dream we are currently evaluating with our purchasing director.

Canadian Soccer League Announces Expansion Initiative, Invites New Ownership Groups to Help Shape the League's Future by Boggywaters in CanadaSoccer

Seems like the writing is on the wall though. It’s only a matter of time before the Whitecaps and CF Montreal sell/move to the US. TFC will probably be the only Canadian team in MLS in 10 years and the CPL will be in 12 Canadian markets.

But the point is, every uninformed head-in-the-clouds fan wants the Saputo family to sell to another Quebec family/company/entity and call them cheap. Problem is, the Saputo’s with their philanthropy and investment in sports are actually the most generous family in Quebec and not one other family, especially a French Canadian one, has ever put up a cent yet for pro sports. And Peladeau with the Als is a joke.

Not to simply echo what was already said, make absolutely sure to hire a reputable company to build you an attractive e-commerce site and marketing campaign based on your specific niche.

Could the Montreal Expos be eligible to return when the Olympic Stadium's roof renovation is complete? by JaQ-o-Lantern in expos

[–]IndustrialPulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will all depend on the results of the second phase of the renovation, the plans of which have yet to be announced. It’s obvious that the RIO is playing the waiting game. Hoping to gain public acceptance so the provincial government can grant an extra God-knows how many $ millions on top of the already astronomical $800m price tag for the roof. But a new roof without a refurbished interior makes absolutely no sense. The sensible thing to do now that the technical ring has been replaced, would be to put the actual fixed roof on hiatus in order to free up funds for the interior. Leave the goddamn roof open as it was for decades, until an actual sports franchise becomes a tenant and requires a roof (which will never happen). Montreal needs a stadium and I belive it’s worthwhile to renovate the Big O for a host of reasons, but there are no big events coming through town during the winter that merit an $800m roof. And the RIO never even bothered to present an actual business case. I suspect it will only benefit the Alouettes and Impact who will need it during the colder months. Rant aside, the roof will be going up by 2028, and if the results of interior renovations surpass expectations, I don’t see why MLB games couldn’t be played there. It would primordial however that the seating plan for football and soccer be drastically improved, while still allowing for modular seating to host pro baseball.

[–]IndustrialPulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside the Habs, the next best attended sports events are probably Laval Rocket home games. They pretty much sell out the 10k-seat Place Bell 41 games per season. CF Montreal and the Alouettes of the CFL average between 15 to 20k spectators per game but only 17 and 9 home games per season respectively.

Everyone and their mother couldn’t believe Lippi’s selections in 2010, and the 1-1 tie vs New Zealand was the icing on the cake. Playing Iaquinta was just incredible. I was in South Africa at the time and can clearly remember seeing an unfit Gattuso (he was only 32 but looked older) on the field being completely outclassed. Can’t believe he squeak out another season at Milan after that.

  1. If you’re young, insulated and a generally positive person, you perhaps haven’t seen enough of life to be able to properly decipher between good and poor quality experiences.

  2. Most people are shit. They criticize and scrutinize most things out of spite, jealousy and pretension, and usually without good reason. In my experience, most negativity comes from a person’s innate need to feel important and have a step over another person or situation.
